BAG SETUP = NEED HELP!!

am haivng a terrible time trying to decide how to organize my bag, specifcially what fairways and/or hybrids to carry, and then which irons. I need to figure this out once and for all, please help. I'm tired of obsessig about it. Some background on me, I'm 29yrs shoot in the low to mid 90's best round 90 and I struggle with the long irons and putting. Short game is solid and decent driver a good drive rmight be 230 for me (225avg), not long but straight. My 8iron is about 130ish and the 3/4 irons seem to go about the same distance. help ME - I haver to break 90 this year!!

 

Here is what I know.

 

I am definatley carrying a Putter, 3 Wedges (L,S,G)and a Driver. As far as Irons, I can go (4-PW), that's 12 clubs so far, and leaves me 2 woods or hybrids or utilty clubs to pick to fill the gaps.

 

AND if I carry 5-PW, that's 11 clubs which leaves 3 open slots for woods or Hybrids.

 

With the reamining amount of clubs I can carry IN BOTH SCENARIOS what would you choose and why? Would you go 5-PW and then what woods/hybrids would you carry or would you go 4-PW and what hybrids.

 

My concerns are that I want to repalce the long irons and want to have very versatile clubs that can be played from different shots, ie off tee and off deck, etc. I see a lot of people trending toward a 4wood and 7wood setup sand that intrigues me becuase it seems more logical than a 3,5 combo - I hardley ever hit a 3 wood off the deck - it was a backup driver. Last concerns is that a lot of people hear have pointed out that a 4iron hybrid club of the same loft as the 4 iron being repalced will liikely hit farther thatn the 4irons so you should consider a slightly higher loft to repalce the distance.

I have this exact same setup, so for my woods I carry a Driver, 3 wood and a 19' hybrid. I have bought a 5wd but have to give up a wedge to get it in the bag, therefore I am considering going with a 4wd instead. I wish there was an easier and less-expensive way to try it other than buying and trying.

I went with what you are asking. I would go with a 3 wood, and a 5 wood hybrid, but thats just me.

Well, the driver followed by a 3 wood, and then 19* and 22* hybrid, with 4-pw, 50* or 52* GW, a 56, and a 60 and finally a putter seems like a good idea for you. The 19* will be you long-shot-off-the-deck club. Hope that helps.

What model of irons are you playing?

 

What loft are your wedges?

 

This info could be instructive when it comes to suggesting a good setup.

10* driver my next driver will be 11*

 

Fusion irons and fusion woods.

 

Also I was planning to go 50,54,58 for the wedges becuase my PW is 46* but it seems mot people prefer the 52,56,50 or a 52,58 setup

Your Fusion 5-iron is 26*.

 

I'd drop the 3,4 irons since you have less confidence in them.

 

First, try a bunch of different hybrids--23* 4-iron replacement first-- until you find one you like off the deck and tee. Don't buy until you feel confidence in using one---there is one out there that will work for you. I'd go 23*, 19*, 14*. Pull your 3-wood if you won't hit it off the deck & use the 14* hybrid instead.

 

50*, 54*, 58* is the correct spacing for your PW loft of 46*. These can be bent +/- a degree if you notice uneven distance spacing.

 

Spend a lot of time with your wedges and putter. :birthday:
