These both are probably the most basic level of being fitted and while it’s better than nothing, it’s not like really being fitted. Reading Tom Wishon’s book “The Search for the Perfect Golf Club” has really opened my eyes to what’s involved in fitting clubs how they can effect play on everyone’s level.

Check out this link on finding a professional clubfitter near you as well as the other links on Tom’s site about what custom fitting should be.

Nothing against the big box retailers, but go somewhere that you can see the ball flight. It will help you see how the different shafts and heads perform for you.

I beg to differ that it is not a real fitting. I guess me and other pros that fit clubs aren't qualified because we are not selling Tom Wishom products. These books are a dime a dozen imo.

look for a instructor that is a certified club fitter. your golfsmiths and golf galaxy's may have someone who knows what they are talking about, as well as someone who thinks they know what they are talking about.

Definitely agree with kfulbright on this one (btw, the bottom of the tower looks to be Sooner crimson--not a Sooner fan just an observation). If you're hitting into a screen or net I don't think you're going to get as good an idea of what's happening. Try to find a certified clubfitter and you'll be much better off and these guys normally don't have any affiliations so you won't get pushed one way or another.

I totally agree with WILDDRIVE99.

I went to a local clubfitter/clubmaker, and it was a great experience.

When I set up the appointment, he told me to bring my clubs, my golf shoes and whatever I would workout in (Tshirt, shorts). He told me I would work up a sweat.

Sure enough, I hit balls for 3 straight hours. Not too many breaks either. Obviously I hit with a launch monitor I got my baseline settings off of my clubs.

I totally went in there with the expectation that I would be buying new clubs in the near future. He was very neutral about what clubs I should have. He flat out told me, that if the clubs I was hitting, worked out to be the best for me, that I should keep them. So he definitely did not push any product.

After my clubs, I hit all sorts of shafts and different swing weights, to find the optimum performance. Also, I hit almost everyball on the market to find the one that worked best for me.

Long story short, my irons were fine (Ping Eye 2). My wedges were fine (Vokey). The only problem was my driver. I had a "dinosaur" (as he called it) 975D 9.5, with a UST shaft. Found out I needed a high loft driver and a lighter shaft to maximize club head speed. So I bought the driver I wanted off of EBay, and he put a new shaft in it that tested the best for me.

When it was all said and done, I was dog tired but I knew what my specifications are. Totally worth it and I stress to all my golfing buddies, that you should do this before spending anymore money on equipment.

Now when I do buy new equipment, I know what to get, and he fine tunes the stuff for me.

i've got to agree with auduffer, the tower does have a nice oklahoma crimson color to it - but i am a sooner fan.

Now guys, jealousey gets you nowhere.

O.T.- Q. How do you know when a Sooner football player has a new girlfriend?

A. There's chewing tobacco stains on both sides of the pickup truck. :)

My favorite one was about a line to hook recruits into coming to Oklahoma instead of Texas (it applied before this year): If you come to Oklahoma you're guaranteed at least one win every year...

And I believe the top-ranked Auburn Men's Women's swim teams beat out the Longhorns!

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
