Standard vs SL

Hey guys,

For anyone that has hit both, is the only real difference between the standard Dynamic Golds (R300, S300 etc) and the SL version mainly the weight and slight difference in torque ?

What I'm getting at here is do they basically flex the same, provide the same flight and feel equally controllable ?

Yes to all your speculations - but considering the weigh issue, because of lighter weight, you can potentially slightly increase your swing speed, and consequently more easily swing a stiffer flex, which can bring down your trajectory slightly. I personally really like the DG SL, and prefer it to Project X I have hit, as far as feedback, and spin response ( personal opinion- I know there's a lot of guys out there who love the PX, well established as a high quality shaft too).

 

Do not confuse the Dynamic Gold SL with the DynaLite GOld SL which will tend to generate higher trajectories.

The DG SL is a great shaft; lightweight, has a low-mid flight, very controllable, seems a teensy bit softer than DG S300 and not as boardy. You might also want to check out the DG High Launch, another lighter shaft that launches noticeably higher than the SL with no loss of control.

DGSL is a great shaft for me. I now use it in all my irons and wedges. The lighter weight is great and it offers a very similar, controllable trajectory and feel as standard DG - making the switch a real no-brainer! The only thing to watch is vibration, but put in some Prosoft inserts and you're away!

 

I have tried project X, Nippon and DG in pretty much all weights and flexes. To me, the DGSL is the best all-round compromise.

 

For info, my driver SS is around 105mph and I use the s300, but think I could also use the x100 without too many issues.
