Slow SS with Driver

Hi all

 

If my SS with my Ping G10 15 degree hybrid (Reg stock shaft) is 110mph and my SS with my 7W (AGT with AJ Teck X355? is also 110mph, how come my driver (Cobra LD with Reg stock shaft) is 10mph slower?

 

Any advice would be much appreciated!

assuming you are swinging them all the same, then there's no way your driver SS should be slower, unless you actually have a considerably shorter driver than your hybrid and 7W. ergo, you must be swinging your driver differently.

The Driver is 44 1/2, the 7w 41 and the hybrid 40 1/2 - thanks

to expound upon what i've said above, you have to be swinging your driver differently. the shorter lengths of your hybrid and 7W, as well as the higher lofts, make it easier for you to go after the ball more. this is a big reason why Tom Wishon and Frank Thomas are huge proponents of shorter drivers. perhaps you could try shortening your driver to 44" or 43.5".

maybe the total weight of the driver is heavier?

i also swing my driver slower than the rest of my clubs.

i've tried gripping way down but i didn't gain any additional speed, i also went at it into a net and no additional speed.

maybe i'm more on plan and more efficient with my irons.

i don't know, maybe someone that had this problem and figured it out can help us out

Probably what happens is your not loading the drivers as much at the top of your swing or not 'releasing" it properly. Or both. I had the same problem a few months ago I started swing my Hybrids and 3W 112/3 MPH and my Driver only 106 MPH.

 

i checked the frequency of all my clubs and found my driver was out of line with my other clubs. I changed my shaft and also started to fire my hips a little more efficiently which led me to almost get the club head to "flick" at impact and bring my SS back up to 114ish. Mind you i went to Stiff shafts instead of X stiff because i could control them and get more yards.

 

But the swing weights for me were dialed in as well you may want to look at that.

the swingweight is ok for me and i'm at a firm flex which is ok too

44.5 inches....perhaps like what you said, i'm not releasing because of a longer club or i'm too quick with a longer club.

i can hit my 7 iron 160 yards if i hit it solid so it just didn't make sense to me.

the compression poinht for me seems to be the 4 iron and longer.

i also hit my pw and shorter irons shorter than normal as well, it's really weird, i hit my 8-6 really well and long.
