Project Bolero Rescue..............maybe

Found near death and given some hope
I picked up this little gem at a local swap meet, still not sure why. I just couldn't stand to leave it in the hands of the gentleman that had it. He has a mountain of "stuff" at his booth and this one would get no special treatment, if left to its possible fate.
I worked a deal, paid too much, and went to work. The grip is in pretty good shape for being the original. I think that the putter spent a fair amount of time at the bottom of a lake. The spots you see in the before pics are actually pits in the aluminum. It took a decent amount of time to polish them out. I probably lost some material, but with the aluminum body, hopefully not much weight. I like the fact that under the sole plate I can add any amount of weight to replace whatever was polished away.
Let me know what you think. My next step is to get my bead blaster fired up and give it a nice satin finish and try to find an anodizing shop that will give me a decent price on a single piece, locally.
Well, hope you get a kick out of the pics and I look forward to any comments that you may have.
Thanks,

Sweet Score!!! If it was me, I'd quit working on it now and send it to the Scotty Custom Shop for a full restoration. They do amazing work and I'm sure that they don't have a ton of Boleros coming in and would probably give it special care. I've seen putters that were in far worse shape than this come out of the Custom Shop looking DEAD Word not allowed MINT!!!! Good luck!

I contacted the Studio and it was a "No-Go". The state of California has some laws that prevent the studio from restoring the aluminum putters. I think it has something to do with the re-application of the anodizing. I have had a few putters done at the Studio and I agree that you can send in a dog and get back an incredible piece. My last restoration from the Studio was a M400 Mizuno. It looked like it had been dragged behind a car and came back like a mint condition new putter, only better.

I'll see what I can do with this one and maybe have it done in a color that you don't see every day, when I find an anodizing shop.

I'll keep you all posted as it goes.

Thanks,
