2008 Tour Burner Iron Shafts

How is the Burner stock shaft?

For those playing the 2008 Tour Burner Irons how do you like the stock Burner shaft? I am thinking about purchasing these but am worried on the stiff shaft may be a little too light and launch the ball too high. What is your experience?

I just got the Burners with the stock Burner 105 stiff shafts, and no lie change. My experience so far has been 3 long range sessions. I can tell you that they perform well for accuracy, consistency, and distance control. Now, as for shot height, I have not noticed any ballooning tendency on my better shots. From my swing at least, the pw through 7 have a solid trajectory and I see the ball dance on landing. The long irons, from the 5 down produce a penetrating ball flight. I get a slight draw and a soft landing. My bad shots though, are high and blocked to the right. This is the only time I see a higher than normal flight. It seems that this type of miss occurs a lot on the Tour, when they miss that is, so unfortunately I can't blame Taylormade.

Hope this review helped. It sounds good, because these clubs really work well for me - so far. Maybe you'll have a different experience, so try them out and see how your swing affects the flight.

Thanks for the review Eddie. I picked up a set today for cheap on ebay and hope the stock burner shafts work..if not i will probably just reshaft with Dynamic golds. I'll post a review as soon as i get them in the mail and have a chance to hit them a bit!

I hit the 105 stock shaft left indoors so I ordered mine with Project X 5.5's. Will get them tomorow but probably won't get a chance to hit them until this weekend. Been wanting to try this shaft so we'll see.

Let me know how you like the 5.5s. I wanted to love the Project X 6.0s but they felt too stiff. May also consider 5.5 if the stocks dont work out.

Funny story..... My wife started going into labor on friday and we took a walk around the block to keep the contractions going when the DHL truck pulled up with my new set!!!!! Needless to say i havent broken open the box but along with a new set of TM burners i now have a beautiful little girl! Might be a few weeks till i post that first review!

I bagged the Tour Burners with the stock 105 gram shafts in stiff flex and really like them. They're very easy to play with this shaft and I haven't experienced any balooning issues. In the past my shaft of choice has been Dynamic Gold, Taylor Made says these were designed to play like a lighter weight Dynamic Gold and I think that's a very accurate description. I like the lighter weight and between that and the slightly stronger lofts I'm getting about a half club longer distance-wise.
