All you Jason Zuback's out there, help me out!

I'm thinking about creating my own bomber just for fun.

Now I am a pretty long hitter averaging 300+, average swing speed on the course ranges from 115-120, i can swing faster but i never do, im always in that range when im on the course.

I want to create a monster off the tee, keeping in mind it is just for fun and i dont have the time or the talent that i know it takes for you guys to compete, so its just for my own fun on the course or range.

I was looking at the ust v2 LD shaft at golfsmith. I was also thinking about getting a G10 to throw in this 48" shaft.

Now i have a couple specific questions:

My normal driver is the one in my sig, its the standard length 7.5* X-stiff 907D2.

My questions are this:

When going from 45.5 inches X-stiff, to a 48" driver, would i want to get X-stiff or would i want to get XX-stiff? On the website i think it has up to XXX, or would i go in the opposite direction and get stiff, basically what does the 2 inches do to flex?

Also, i play a 7.5*, now would i want to get the 7.5 in the G10 or should i get more loft like the 9*, i really have no experience in the affects of the 48" shaft.

Remember to keep in mind that I'm am not trying to learn how to be a long driver or compete at all, i just want to hit the ball as far as possible, just for a fun option, the reason i emphasize this is is because i see you guys using 4.5*, and 5.5*, and 6.5* with like XXX stiff, thats not what im looking for, i couldnt carry that, i just want it to be a monster for like a 115-120 mph swinger.

answer to first question- go with the UST V2 LD2(it is actually a 1x flex, LD3=2x, LD4=3x) you can always tip it and add a butt extension if needed.

answer to question 2= stay with the loft your comfortable with, higher lofts just add spin to help get the ball in the air.

adding inches to the length of the shaft will get you a couple more mph of ss. no different from a regular length shaft in terms of hitting, just stand a little farhter away from the ball without hunching over.

wsc- whatever you do, do not get a 9 degree.

The two largest factors affecting distance in magnitude of order are backspin (aerodynamic lift) and the close second is ball speed (and incidentally matching spin rate and speed with dimple type).

If you currently use a 7.5, then a true 9 with more speed (and thus more frictional force parrallel to the clubface loft) will create a spin rate that will make you want to shoot yourself.

If the long shaft doesn't work out for you, try this (taking into account that you can increase speed more effectively by decreasing weight than by increasing length): Find a standard Stiff aftermarket shaft that weighs 48 to 52 grams at 46" and then tip it to about 44 3/4. Then add weight to the head to get the sw back up. You'll probably swing it faster than the 48 and hit it much more solid (thereby increasing your actual goal which is BALL SPEED).

And you could get even fancier by taking the 7.5 and shimming it open about 1/2 degree. Then hit up on the ball and make sure you get the face square (remember- it's now 1/2 degree or so open).
