HELP - MELTED HOSEL PLUG FELL INTO HEAD

Any magic trick to get it out !!!!!

I purchased a head recently ... The shaft was pulled before I got it - and when I received the box - I could see the remainder of the hosel plug hanging on by a toe nail. And of course - It came loose and fell in.

I really would rather not hotmelt the head - Is there any trick to get it out - I was kinda thinking about getting the remainder of the plug over the hole (hosel port) and applying some heat and see if I could incinerate it or cause it to ooze out

If it's plastic, acetone will eat it. Pour some in the head and plug the hosel - let it sit over the weekend and see if you can pour the mess out.

 

This may also remove any rat glue in the head, so you might want to add a little rattlestop back in before assembly - just a couple of grams to grab anything that might come loose inside the head.

 

You may also be able to "suck" it out with a modified drinking straw.

 

Cut the tip of the straw so it's like a spoon, and insert into the head through the hosel opening. It will open up inside and you might be able to catch the plug on the "spoon" and then tease/suck it out...

I like Tim's idea - I'll have to try that. Probably one of those male-enhancement suction pumps thingos would work well attached to the straw - I should have a few extras around here somewhere...

 

Seriously, I HATE it when this happens - what I do is to take a thin soda straw (actually an empty pixi-stick), coat the tip with rattlestop, and try to catch the little sucka. Once in a while I can actually just pull it out, but usually it's too big to fit back through the bottom of the hosel. If that's the case, I try to catch it right on the end of the straw and use that to pin it against the sole of the club. Then I run my extra long 1/8" drillbit in right through the straw and pulverize the thing. Then it's an easy matter to use rattlestop-coated q-tips to pull out the little pieces. this works about half the time.

 

Otherwise, about 2gm of rattlestop will hold it, or you can drill right into the sole, pop the thing out through that hole, then seal it up with a tip-pin:^)
