All of the black golds I have installed have been weighted the wrong way, they 4 irons are usually a d3 and the wedge a d1. true temper says this is normal, and how they want the shaft to play. They don't want me to change the weight.

so I put a set in some 695cb for me, the weights were descending like TT said they would be, but they were to stiff for me, so I soft steped them 2 times, and guess what, now all my irons are d3. I don't know how it happend. I use the same amount of glue on each iron. So now I don't know what to think. any input would be great!

The thought that comes to me is "Should you have tried regular flex to begin with?" The other thing is that I would tend to trust that TT knows why they did a particular thing with a shaft. So, the question for me now is, can you provide the exact swingweight makeup before with each club, so that we can all see the details of this discovery. Info that would be helpful would be head weight, shaft weight, grip weight, lengths (before and after trim), final playing lengths, overall weight and CPM (without grips). All of this information would be very valuable to those of us that are still on the bench about the Black Golds and how they would be different from PX's as an example.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I did not take any measurements, because even if I did, TT said not to put anything in the shafts, so it wouldn't have done me any good. Titleist is usually spot on the weights, its the bores that are slopy on the titleist clubs. mizuno has nice bores, but the weights are all over the place.

 

You are right, I should have gotten the R flex. I got these shafts when they first came out, and figured the s would be like an s300. Boy was I wrong.

 

TT does have the finished frequencies I listed them for you below, basically a r flex is a rifle 5.5

 

I wouldn't be on the fence between these and the PX. They are completely different shafts, different flight and different feel. The BG is a high flat flying ball flight (most here would say ballooning, but it's not ballooning) The PX is a crisp low flying ride.

 

I think a person would be on the fence between a BG, and a plain old regular rifle. They play very close.
