Should I go UST V2 65S or tipped 65R?

reshafting a driver....Golfsmith was no help

I want to reshaft my Adams A3 driver with a UST V2. I just love the feel of that shaft and seems to kick perfectly for me. I went to the local Golfsmith to get fitted for the shaft and they were basically no help. My SS is 95-100 which according to UST is in the middle of their R and S for SS recommendations.

I play my driver at 44.5 inches so I'm wondering if the shaft will need to be tipped and therefore make it stiffer. Based on that should I go with the 65S or 65R tipped by .5 or 1 inch?

I wouldn't recommend tipping this shaft as it would alter it's properties too much. It's usually better to err on the side of the more flexible shaft if you're stuck between the two. Alternatively, the solution would be to go with a lighter stiff or heavier regular. I would suggest the latter (76g R -flex).

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't considered going with a heavier R. I think I'll give that go.

I am stunned that Golfsmith was no help?

 

Imagine after several hours of training, the sales clerk was still not able to watch you hit into a net and look at a few static numbers off of a cheese-ey launch monitor and predict the exact shaft weight, model, length, flex, etc.....

 

 

I apologize for my sarcasm, but you have the same chance of finding the right chance if you brought out the proverbial set of darts. Find someone who is serious and is capable of a serious fitting.
