Effect of too stiff iron shaft

I have a set of Nike blades that I absolutely love and hit well. Unfortunately, with age and injury, my swing speed has dropped to 85 mph with a driver.

 

The Nike blades have S300 shafts and are one/two clubs shorter than another set of irons with regular shafts (X-18 graphites).

 

My question is: "Is it worth it to have the Nike Blades reshafted with regular shafts or should I just let it go?"

you'll probably lose some distance but I think a lot of it depends on how you're loading the shaft.

If the other set is graphite, what are the weights of those shafts? I would assume that has more of an effect than stiffness... DG's are pretty heavy.

may also want to try a lightweight steel shaft.

Too stiff = loss of height and distance. Whilst the Nikes are an excellent set of irons, you will have to weigh up the difference in cost of reshafting or just getting a used set with lighter and more flexible shafts. Your call.

LOVE my TX-90's. (Why, oh, why discontinue them, TT?! :) )

Golfsmith has them for $13.59 a shaft.

You are probably feeling the S300's a little hard work, generally straight but a little short on carry. I also think you need to explore light weight steel shafts either in a new set or by re-shafting your Nike blades.

Models to explore include the TX 90 already mentioned the Nippon NS 950 or V 90, the KB tour 90 and the Dynamic gold SL.
