Cally ball for Kansas

I like the black callys. Any insight on which one I should use?

The Tour i for sure, sweeeeet ball! soft, low spin off driver, high spin on greens...

unless of course you like a harder ball Tour ix is for you..

I live in Vegas now, but lived in Kansas forever. Went back and played golf a ton a few weeks ago.

 

Struggled controlling the extra spin of the Cally "i". Switched to the ix and that definately helped. Then played an afternoon round and liked the i better.

 

My advise would be to play the ix if you are playing a morning round. The i if you are playing in the afternoon. Kansas courses play really soft and wet early because of watering and heavy dew, but hard and dry later in the day because the moisture dries out and runs off quickly.

 

Kansas has the most bi-polar and unpredictable weather and turf conditions in the world. You will need to choose a ball accordingly. It is tough to stay loyal to one particular ball there. But I think that is a good thing.

Also, which part of Kansas are you talking about? I know here in the eastern part of the state it has been fairly wet and cool this year so the air is heavier. A ball that spins less might be better for that area.

Well I live in central kansas. I play in central and western kansas mostly...

Always err on the side of picking the ball you like the most around the greens, that is how you score. Dont worry too much about a few yards tee to green, it wont hurt your GIR that much, and having a ball you have confidence in aroud the greens will save you the most strokes. I have lived in Kansas all my life, both in the Kansas City area and Wichita. I know it can get windy in some parts, for those of you who dont know, it can easily gust to 40MPH on and given summer day. So a low spin ball is great, but make sure it will spin around the greens enough to get it up and down.

I am a high HC so I probably wont spin it that much. Also, I play highschool golf so most of my matches are in the afternoon. Should I look into the i? Being In highschool I have a LIMITED budget for golf stuff.

I live in the Wichita area and play several of the outlying courses here. I've been gaming the i ball with great results (haven't played the black so I can't compare). No noticeable loss in distance where it counts (I don't get upset over 10 yd differences off the box). I am really happy with the control around the green (being able to stick a flop next to the pin from behind a green running away from you makes you smile). The Cally i makes me smile from 150 out, around the green (where it counts) and sounds great (to me) off the putter.

 

That being said I couldn't of made this comment except I received the half dozen freebies. I just don't get serious enough with my game to pay 40+ bucks a dozen when there are lots of good balls out there. Before this I've played the Tri-Speed, URC, URS, b330, b330's, ProV1, TP Black, Nike Black and even the occasional venture to Top-Flite, you see I like to tinker :drinks:. I have to remind myself to be sensible when it comes time to buying balls. I don't need the ego boost the big buck ball brings. But dang they feel really good and it is hard not to pull the trigger. Buy a sleeve and go find out what makes you smile. If you really don't want to drop the bucks on a sleeve go see Max (pm me for details). Also, there are several supporters of the sight that sell quality used balls for prices that rival the lower priced balls, think about giving them a shot.
