32 Ball Drill

Drills

The best drill to be used with the Pure Ball Striker is called the 32-Ball Drill. This 32-Ball Drill will help the player take their game from a skill level to the habit level of learning.

Here is the 32-Ball Drill for the Pure Ball Striker

Choose a club and a stroke for example a 9 iron and a chipping motion

4 repetitions with the Pure Ball Striker and 4 repetitions without the Pure Ball Striker for a total of 32 Balls

Set #1) 4 Balls with the Pure Ball Striker in place sensing/feeling your clubhead lag pressure

Set #2) 4 Balls without the Pure Ball Striker recreating the sense/feel of your clubhead lag pressure

Set #3) 4 Balls with the Pure Ball Striker in place sensing/feeling your clubhead lag pressure

Set #4) 4 Balls without the Pure Ball Striker recreating the sense/feel of your clubhead lag pressure

Set #5) 4 Balls with the Pure Ball Striker in place sensing/feeling your clubhead lag pressure

Set #6) 4 Balls without the Pure Ball Striker recreating the sense/feel of your clubhead lag pressure

Set #7) 4 Balls with the Pure Ball Striker in place sensing/feeling your clubhead lag pressure

Set #8) 4 Balls without the Pure Ball Striker recreating the sense/feel of your clubhead lag pressure

Now you are done.

Choose another club and stroke for example a sand-wedge and a 50 yard pitch and repeat the 32-Ball Drill

This drill will help build your game taking it towards your habit level and automatic golf.

Hank, you are right on track. You have described basically what Homer Kelley describes as hitting and swinging.

Hitting = Muscular thrust of accumulator #1, the right arm.

Swinging = Pulling the club through usually driven by accumulator #4, the left arm. The left arm powering the swing along with centrifugal force. The right arm straightens as a result, not through thrust.

Neither is better or worse, personal preference. Oh, the elbow leading the hands is also described as "pitch" elbow. Hitters generally use "punch" elbow just as you described. To learn more do a search for The Golfing Machine. You will find a lot of information.

This is a very effective drill. I worked on it today, with mixed results, but it really is starting to help me feel what I need to feel.

I have made big strides with my full swings and the PBS. However, having played twice this last week on unfamiliar courses this last week has spotlighted my poor short game. I have tried to chip and putt using accumulator one with clubhead lag and I find that I have no touch. I am usually much too long with my chips and putts and then miss the short putts coming back. My long game is giving me chances to score but I have no confidence with my short game. ( When I practice my chipping I do ok; it's when I am playing that I start to suck)

I finally resorted to putting with accumulator #4 and seemed to have a little better touch. Does anyone have any suggestions on finding better touch with the short game using "TGM" principles?

GreyGuy,

You are swinging rather than hitting. Why fight it, nothing wrong with that at all. When swinging using accumulator #4, you will generally start feeling pp #3 at the transition of back stroke to forward stroke. Make sure while you are pulling with #4, you maintain the feeling of pressure on pp#3. Perfect way to use the PBS for basic motion.

Remember, There are two kinds of golfers according to TGM:

SWINGERS: Centrifugal Force powers the Club. Power Accumulator #1 is not used, i.e., the Right Arm is passive, and any #1 Pressure Point Pressure -- the heel of the Right Hand against the Left Hand thumb -- is incidental. The Direct Drive (7-11) of the Swinger is supplied by the #4 and #2 Pressure Points. The Indirect Drive -- the Clubhead Lag Pressure -- is supplied by Pressure Point #3. As demonstrated, you must maintain Pressure Point #3. You need not maintain #1.

HITTERS: The #1 Accumulator -- the Bent Right Arm -- is supplying its Direct Drive Muscle Power actively against Pressure Point #1. Again, this is the heel of the Right Hand against the Left Hand thumb. No contact, no pressure. No pressure, no Power. Allow the Clubhead Lag and its Indirect Drive to be accepted by the #3 Pressure Point.

Yes! For you TGMers here is a bit more information. The order of accumulator release is 4 1 2 3. It is the players choice which accumulators and pressure points are selected just as with any of the 24 components. Swinging accumulator #1 can be passive and in hitting accumulator #1 can be active. As far as Pressure Point combinations go it can be any one or any combinations of Pressure Points selected to sense Clubhead Acceleration rate and direction 2-M-2 but herein unless otherwise specified always refers to Pressure Point #3.

Under 3-F-5 every stroke must include:

1) Clubface to target line

2) Grip to Clubface

3) Hands to Ball

4) Plane Angle

5) Pressure Points

6) Right Forearm

6-C-2-A The Essence of Clubhead Lag Technique is that is always both Aiming AND Thrusting. Passive it is primarily Aiming the Lag Pressure. Actively it is primarily Thrusting the Lag Pressure Point. The Orbiting Clubhead does not seek out the Ball it seeks out the Delivery Line. But never directly only via the Right Forearm and the #3 Pressure Point per 2-F, 5-0 and 7-3. It is guided along that Line to the Both Arms Straight configuration by the straight line thrust of the #3 Pressure Point towards the Angle of Approach quadrant of the Ball or Aiming Point per 1-F, 1-L-9/10, 2-J-3 and 6-E-2.

Hanon great stuff lets keep it going!

Kevin,

Thanks for your input. I played today and putted much much better. I was going to try pressure point #4 today anyways but your post gave me the confidence that it could be the right thing to do. My full swing is a swinging of the club but thought for some reason that chipping and putting might be better using accumulator #1.

I started pull hooking a few drives and found that I was getting back to my old habit of getting up on my toes from address through followthrough. As soon as I got my weight back towards my heels at address things started going well again.

Very happy I could help. Sounds like you are doing great and figuring things out on your own, sometimes we just need that little bit of reassurance. Thanks for the update!

"Hit the ball with the pressure points in your hands not with the clubhead." (Lynn Blake)

This is the motto of TGM: THE MIND IN YOUR HANDS. You have to achive "educated hands"and feel the pressure points to control the club shaft (keeping the plane), the clubhead (keeping the lag) and the clubface (keeping the flat left wrist)

Got mine last week. As i stated, i was looking forward to this to use in conjunction with the other training aid that i got, which is the G4 Swing Trainer.

I can not believe how much pressure this adds to PP#3 when using the two together.... WOW.... BIG TIME !!!

I started using the 32 drill with and without the PBS when using the G4. And then use the 32 drill again with just the PBS and the standard grip (less the G4). I hope i'm not concentrating too much on the pressure, but that's all i'm looking for and the pressure is more noticeable the more i use it.

I would have to say if there are people that are NOT feeling it, then you should look into a G4 and use them together, if this doesn't do it for ya... then you've got NO feeling in your hands.

Thanks for the follow-up and that G4 is an outstanding product and it is great to see that you are feel your lag pressure. You ROCK! What a great combination Pure Ball Striker and the G4.

My PBS arrived in the mail today. I have attached a picture of the scene out my back door (in Pinehurst, NC) about the time that the PBS arrived.

Is there some serious side effect that Jeff failed to disclose :man_in_love:

dave

ps. I have a round on Pinehurst No. 2 scheduled for tomorrow. This REALLY sucks.

It's Jeff's fault for sure. I live in Minnesota and it snowed about two months after I got my PBS. It's never snowed here before... well OK, maybe a little. This has a class action lawsuit written all over it!

I feel your pain though, missing a shot at #2. Hopefully you gat another chance soon!

Aslan,

I don't hear you knocking the Pure Ball Striker!

It sounds like you may not have enough Extensor Action.

Jeff, I have peeked at Asian's swing before, that's exactly what I mentioned to him. Asian, do you still have your swing video you could post for Jeff? I think it would take Jeff about 10 seconds to see something similar.

2 questions jeff,

1. what did you change in the new version of the pbs?

2. what you say the reason is for a player who has sufficient lag and holds the angles well having problems compressing the ball as well as they should? in my mind it has to be the grip isn't in the right posistion to support impact, but are there other reasons?

Got my new PBS in the mail yesterday, ended up finding my old one but oh well, no problem with two.

Biggest difference i found was that the new version is much firmer than the old one, and keeps the shape much better so it stays on the club.

Only bad thing about the new one is it looks so generic due to the PBS stamp not being on it anymore.

Please tell me when the tour version is out Jeff.
