lie angle on irons? can I change it - callaway x18's

I am hooking due to lie angle to upright - help

I have Callaway x-18 pro series irons - standard lie - i inch longer than standard - I am 6 ft 1 inchs tall so I thought everything should be fine. However, I have long arms and they hang quite low at address.

Dont think its a swing flaw as I can hit my woods awesome but yet pull n 8 iron 30 yards left consistently - when addressing the ball the toe of the club is definetley off the grass -
with the bore thru hozel on these - is it possible to get them bent more flatter?

well thats something you can try if youre positive that its not a swing issue. sounds like you could bend them 1-2 degrees at first and see what it does.

I had the oposite problem but if you call Callaway customer service and tell them what you want they will adjust your clubs for you, just the cost of shipping to them.

 

When I got mine back they had not only adjusted the lie but also redid the paint fill and buffed them up.

A descent local shop should be able to do every club for 25-35$. Make sure to have it checked every year at a minimum since things change. Make sure that they put impact tape on the bottom of every club and check your impact for all irons. Too many companies make all irons the same based on the impact of your 7 iron. All swings are slightly different and it is quick and easy to check and make changes.

Just curious, but why did you get them 1 inch over standard? If the clubs are too upright, is it possible they're also too long? For every extra 1/2 inch of shaft, you increase the lie angle by 1 degree. So, if you were to butt trim the shafts to standard length, you would effectively flatten the lie angle by 2 degrees. I, like you, have very long arms. I am 5'8", but my wrist to floor measurement is something like 31". I play standard length/lie clubs (x-14s), and they are just fine for me. I could probably go a degree flat (or a 1/2 inch short), but I just stick with standard.

 

Earlier this year, I bought new x-18s and had them custom fitted. I was measured at 1 degree flat. Rather than have Callaway bend a brand new set of irons, I sent in the 6 and 7 from my x-14 set (which are the exact same length, loft and lie as the x-18s) and had them bent 1 degree flat. I liked the way they set up behind the ball, but I definitely hit them high and right as compared to when they were standard. So, after a few weeks, I had them bent back to standard.
