Playing the Plantation, need help on one more

Im coming to Maui the last week of Feb/first week of March and already plan on playing the Plantation one day, and was interested in maybe playing one more. Was thinking about Royal Ka'anapali or the Dunes course that they advertised during the Mercedes. Also, about the twilight rates for the Plantation and those two courses...will teeing off b/t 1:30 and 2:00 allow enough time to finish, or would it be better to just bite the bullet and tee off in the morning? Thanks in advance for the help.

Dunes is a nice links style course. I have not played Ka'anapali in years, so I cannot help you there. The courses at Wailea and Makena are also very nice. As for the twilight, as long as the courses are not really busy and/or play extremely slow, you should be able to get most if not all of the holes in before the light fades. Enjoy your trip!

thanks for the reply....The Dunes seemed interesting because I have really never had a chance to play a Links style course before. The price is also very reasonable as well....

sorry for the bump...Anyone play Kahili (Maui), or Elleair (Maui) recently...if so, how were they? Their prices seem reasonable.

Have not played those two. Definitely seem to be more price friendly.

However, I have played Wailea Gold and Makena North. Highly recommend either one of them. Played Royal Kaanapali as well. Not bad, very basic resort IMO.

There are some good deals to be had out there on the net (www.teetimeshawaii.com).

Play the Plantation in the morning since the winds can get brutal in the afternoon. Skip Ka'anapali and play Dunes.

Kinda dull for both courses. You want a reasonable price (cheapest)? Take a drive to Waiehu for some local flavor. Nice folks and 6,7,8 borders the beach.

Try Makena North. Played it last year and it was awesome. Some of the best views and golf.

I was just in Oahu and Maui on christmas vacation and stayed at Kanapali. First off you must pay the plantation. I played two rounds there and it was amazing. In fact a couple guys I played with had played both spyglass hill and pebble and told me visually the plantation was the tops. I played twilight both times and it ran 164 with tax. You save over 100 $ and both days I finished 18....barely. Try to get the earliest twilight time which I think is either 1 or 2 pm...sorry I cannot remeber. You get unlimited range balls hitting off turf and they give you a few bottles of water to keep cool as well as a custom bag tag. I thought it was well worth the 164. The afternoon however is a little breezier. I play to a 12 from the tips and had no problem shooting below my cap there, the condition is unreal and the grees roll as true as can be. As for Kaanapali the royal is where you want to play although for the money and after playing the plantation you may be dissapointed. I would play either the emerald or gold over in wailea, they are beautiful. I hope this was a little helpfull.....enjoy your trip, maui is amazing.

Kahili and Elleair are nice courses. No ocean holes. You get a nice view of central Maui on the Kahili course. With either course, be ready to play in some wind.

If you do go to Waiehu, don't get your hopes up on the condition of the course. This is a Muni,so it is not on par with the rest of the course on the list. However, with that in mind, it is a nice little track. I grew up on it. You won't get oceanside hole like that for the price anywhere, except Wailua on Kauai.

Makena North is one of my favorites and I always recommend playing it.

exactly... leave afternoon golf alone.. tradewinds kickup and it's no fun
