just saw tiger was beaten on 18 by chad...didnt get to see any of it...any1 know how the match was and how tiger played???

Dont think tiger played great but chad played well. i think tiger shot a 69 and chad shot a 70. difference was, chad putted well and tiger didnt.

Tiger was bogey free.....just didnt putt as well as he is able too. Chad played great considering the pressure of playing with Tiger.

Campbell was in control the whole time, but nerves were catching up to him on the back nine.

I do not agree. tiger was quite unlucky on 18 with his pitch from the rough, it checked up suprisingly quickly. also, his 15ft putt had a fair amount of break from right to left. he wasnt having a good putting day, it happens to everyone, even him. even though he was bogey free for the round, he still wasnt at his best and chad played extremely considering he was playing tiger. it was more chad did what he had to do than tiger blew it.

the score in match play is misleading because putts are given (though those wouldn't actually change anything) ... but, more importantly the players do things they might not otherwise do in stroke play.

 

imo campbell outplayed tiger no question. he hit a couple of poor shots in the late going to give tiger holes. i thought tiger putted reasonably well ... problem is he kept just missing from 30' ... didn't hit the ball close to the hole as campbell did a few times. you never know in match play, but if tiger is not tiger he would have probably lost 3 and 2 instead of 1 down.

 

there weren't any good/bad breaks contributing to the outcome (tiger did get a slightly tough break on 16 when he hit his putt about 6" too hard and it bounced out of the back of the hole) ... tiger definitely got beat imo. just never got the ball close to the hole. tiger should have made that putt on 18 though.

Both played well but Chad played better. Chad got out to an early lead and was 3 up at one time. Lead the whole match until Tiger made a surge to square it. He just didn't make the important putts in the end to win it. Kudos to Campbell though. He played great and deserved to win.

Tiger could have had better luck: The approach shot to 16 backed up from the hole, then the approach on 17 didn't back up. He really should have hit the 18th fairway.

 

Other than those small breaks, Chad played well.

tiger never squared it, nor did he make a surge. tiger made eagle on a hole he was going to win anyway. only one other birdie. he just couldn't hit the ball close to the hole. in the late going, campbell gave tiger a couple of holes (that tiger won with pars). campbell definitely controlled the match the whole way.

Tiger was fortunate to get by Allenby yesterday........as Allenby outplayed him........not so fortunate today........Campbell can play........big time play........

 

I honestly have grown weary of Tiger hittin' it all over the lot and makin' seeminly every 10' he faces.......and I'm a Tiger fan........

 

But, I'm also a "traditionalist" and driving accuracy should count for something.......jeez.......and I didn't care for the way he was so "smug" after dusting Ames.....Tiger knows Ames got into the event at the 11th hour.......and due to his wife's cancer hadn't played much......supposedly not in 10 weeks.......and all Ame's said is what everyone but Tiger/Haney/Earl/Tida/and his wife thats involved in and around professional golf is thinking........;) (allbeit a DUMB damn thing to say the night before facing him in match play....D U M B)

If Davis makes it today I will probably watch other than that no thanks. The network definitely groaned with Tiger and everyone else dropping out yesterday. Real close matches so they were close to good viewership.

that's all Matchplay...Tiger beat the crap out of Ames...he won a close one against Allenby...Campbell beat him...Campbell got dissed by Lehman...so many close matches and some not so close..over 18 holes that's what happens. Over 36, the better play wins 80% of the time...Look at Wentworth. Ernie Els has won it 5 times..yet has never been past the second round at La Costa...If Tiger was not so good to win this tournament twice as well as loosing in one final and Toms winning, this tournament has had Stricker and Maggert as winners...You will be stretched to find such winners at Wentworth..marquee almost always..
