What happened to Spencer Levin?

I was thinking about all the young guns and remembered his name, but I haven't seen his name in awhile. Is he hurt, in jail...what gives?

I'm pretty sure he is playing the Nationwide Tour. I saw him playing in that tourrnament in Australia last week.

He's playing wherever he can get some starts. No status anywhere. Probably hooters tour stuff, Grey goose, etc.

Your a fan who took a public piss with women, kids and potential sponsors watching, who by his own admission was a weed head and drank too much in college, who cussed out his father for giving him the wrong club for an approach shot, was voted off the team in college by teammates that got tired of his bs?

I unno I kinda like his attitude, I'm getting tired of the young stars coming out on tour like there off an assembly line from the leadbetter academy's,etc., They all have great mechanics but they seem to lack a ceratin passion and imagination that many of the more self-taught young euro stars seem to have, I think it's refreshing to see a guy who just doesn't seem to give a s**t what anyone cares, I admit he takes it a lil far sometime but after reading his golf digest interview I think he is starting to mature and get it together, he has alot of fire and passion and isn't afraid to express it. I am also a fan of ryan moore with his unorathadox swing but he makes it work from him.

Of course most of the Leadbetter guys stay on tour while good old spence is conditional on the Nationwide tour. I'm all for attitude, but if you can't back it up on the course then you just look like a jerk. I wish him well but he is only making the road tougher on himself. ;)

I think that attitude is what it takes to WIN early. It is someone that is not affraid to win.

 

I don't know much about him other than a guy that plays out of my club has taken lessons from his farther and was very pleased so pleases he was fly'ing out west from the east coast and all the leadbetter kids come from big bucks $$$..

 

I like the blue collar grind it out kids who have to stand on there own two feet.

One of them would shake a little change in the pocket, then all h#ll would break loose. It would be the first televised brawl in PGA Tour history. :crazy:

 

There's something in a scrapper that is appealing to a lot of people, but as a general rule, they end up leading pretty lonely existences on tour. Some of them prefer it that way, I suppose, but it seems unlikely to produce the kind of play that allows you to be lonely on Tour for more than a season or two...

Levin gets so much negativity. How many of you talking bad about him have actually met him? I met him last year at the Barclays and talked to him for a while. Couldn't have been nicer. I was walking on the range and he says hi to me and calls me by my first name. I know he has done some bad things but i think a lot of the stuff he gets is underserving. He was really great to me and i am now a big fan

Played with his dad Donny several times on Hogan/Nike........good player.......Met Spence on a couple of occasions.......he was a nice kid.......has a "side" to him thats a lil' s***.........but, he's not that bad a kid......just went through a "phase" where he was a lil' turd to just about everyone........regrets it now and is attempting to change his "ways"........I'm sure he'll have a blow out or two along the way, but, he's smart enough to know that he HAD to change his "attitude" or it was going to REALLY cost him in the end.......PLUS, get your arse kicked enough, which he is now, will "humble" anybody and is sure to change their "attitude".....;)

I watched him in person when he won the Porter Cup in Niagara Falls, def was a character and you could see the 'tude ;) about him but was a great ball striker and could stick it from anywhere it seemed

I think you need a little attitude as well as a cookie cutter type Leadbetter swing / mental approach. It is the attidude and drive to succeed that gives you that winning edge and attitude cannot be taught. Of course everything in moderation and there is a right time and place for everything. IMO Charles Howell (for example) who is a great ball striker and a nice person will not live up to expectations as he lacks the sharpness or brashness of a Sergio or a Pat Perez, or a Tiger Woods for that matter. Don't be mistaken Tiger has attitude but he was VERY WELL schooled, but I believe that he is still the highest fined played on the PGA for bad language. (no facts just what I have heard). Spencer Levin will probably make it, he is still a kid and had to grow up, (sorry guys but it takes us a litle longer to mature). He Was a big fish in a small pond, now he is a small fish in a big pond and that takes some adjusting.

haha i love reading all this stuff from people who think they know what they're talking about because they read an article in golf digest, heard a story from somebody( storys are retold sooooooo accurately...NOT), or was influenced by any other form of the media...Spencer is a cocky hot-head with a firey attitude. He's a good person, works his a** off all the time and has since he started golfing, and because this reputation started one day, people judge him and don't give him much of a chance and often times provoke him and look for the negative. He is kicking the crap out of everybody on the canadien tour this year and will be on the big stage in no time. How awesome would it be to see Johnny Miller interview Spencer?

I got to watch spencer play at the International Final Qualifier for the British Open at Oakland Hills where he made it through in a playoff. All I have to say about him is that he's a nice change of pace. Chain-smoking, yes, but entertaining as well. I'm a big fan, he was nice to me.

To say Spencer is killing on the Cdn Tour would be a complete understatement, He is destryoing the field. I think that it is a good thing b/c it will give him a fair bit of confidence going into Q school. ALOT of good tour players have come out of te Cnd Tour. Most underrated development tour in the world!
