North Ohio Golf (Eastern OH to Sandusky)

need a recommendation

I am planning a roadtrip from New York that will take me and my buddy along route 90 through north Ohio and Cleveland to Cedar Point in Sandusky.

I can deviate off this route a bit, but would rather stay close to it. I'm looking for a nice layout with good conditions. Lots of big bunkers and a long course is a plus.

Let me know what you guys have. Doing a search I'm finding alot of nice private courses but no public courses.

I would try Thunderbird in Sandusky and Blue Heron in cleveland

Check out www.golfclevelandohio.com. It has reviews, pics and tons of info on a bunch of public courses in Cleveland Ohio. They also rate the courses. I've played a bunch of these courses and the ratings are pretty accurate.

You'd be a fool to pass up Little Mountain. You can actually see it from I-90. I assume your trip is over, but for future reference and people that view this thread. Little Mountain is by far the best in Northeast Ohio for public access. Thunder Hill can get jacked up pertty quick after a storm.

Also, check out Whispering Woods in Northwestern PA. About 10 minutes off I-90. Great Course, hit up Quake Steak and Lube for some killer chicken wings after the round. Off I-90 @ Peach St. in Erie, PA.

Thunderhill can be an good course or just flat out dumb depending on the tees, I've played the furthest back tees and the ones in front of them. There isn't a whole lot of distance difference but the far back tees force you to hit stupid shot by putting trees far to deep into what would be a fair line to play. My buddy plays Big Ten golf and even he thought it was flat out dumb. If I was you I'd go to Little Mountain instead, A) its a better course and B) they have the hottest cart girls/staff, try searching Little Mountain girls calender...and yes they all work there.

Its a tad off your line but try Boulder Creek...one of the best designed courses I have ever played...2 island green par 3's
