How is its green holding ability?

I currently hit the Srixon Z-Star , awesome awesome ball, but trying to cut costs, and I have been reading about the Pinnacle Exception/Paltinum Feel(these are basically the same ball), andfrom what I read I it seems to have some green holding ability, I know its
notlike the Z-Star, but wanted to get some feedback on some people that hit it or have hit to see if it holds the green ok...chatter guys? thanks Howard

it's good for a 2-piece ball. for the ultimate in cheap golf balls for greenside spin performance, you can't beat these Wilson i-Wound balls for $21 for 3 doz + shipping. you won't find a better performing ball for less than $12/doz. nice soft feel, great greenside performance comparable to the best of today's balls. will punish errant swings more than newer balls, and it's about 7-12 yds. shorter off the driver compared to the best balls of today.

 

on top of that, hardly anyone plays them, so you know it's your ball! the i-Wound was Wilson's original answer to the ProV1. unfortunately, Wilson didn't market it very well--the box is ugly as sin, the name suggested that it was old wound technology (it's not really a wound ball), and they wanted as much $$$ as a ProV1 at the time. but Wilson's loss can be your gain!

They dont spin all that much, if you hit a lower ball int othe greens you will more than liekly SUFFER. If you hit a HIGH BALL into greens you might be able to play it. Long off the irons and driver and decent feel on the green with the putter.

I have decided to drop spending and lower my cost on Golf Balls as well. I was playing the Titleist pro-V But in the spring of 08 I decided to shelf the Pro-V until summer after a friend recommended trying the Pinnacle Exception for a spring ball. I was sold in nine holes. It is very good off the driver (not great) it is very good off full iron shots (not great) it is very good off wedges around the green (not great) it has very good feel off the putter (not great). Where it is Great is the pocket book two dozen for $25.00 Golf Smith. It is great ball for the price with very good/good performance. It wont spin back at least not for me off full wedge shot but it will hold the greens more of a hit stop short roll most within 12" of the pitch mark.

 

I played this ball late last fall and early this spring I am still having cold day rounds with it. I am also starting to game the Taylormade TP ball $19.99 doz Costco. It is a excellent ball at halp the price of premiume balls. My brother and both brother in laws are gaming the Tour Fire ball $15.00 doz at Dicks the swear by it. I also gamed the Top Flight Gamer for a round after reading the Golf Digest Ball review. It was everythjing Golf digest said it was but for the same price I prefer $19.99Doz the Taylormade TP.

 

I say the Pinnacle is a great choice is a purely budget ball I say the Taylormade TP is a great performing budget ball.

 

BTW the Last round I played with the Pinnacle Exception I played with a guy using the NEW Pro-VX. The guy asked what ball I was playing I told him I was playing the Exception he replied" I can't play those cheap balls they kill my game" I outdrove him on the majority of holes and I beat him by a 1/2 dozen or so strokes. The Pinnacle will hold it's own.
