alignment

i've noticed that when i address the ball, i often tend to aim to the right. Then to fix this problem, i either close the face or swing outside to inside, which sometimes cancels out and goes straight, but alot of the time puts a high fade, making it even more right, or low hooks. I've now straightened out my swing, proper plane and path, but I still address the ball aiming to the right.

I've tried the arnold palmer method, picking out a target a few feet infront of me and aiming at that, but most or the time i aim my club at the right spot, but I can't get my feet square, usually hitting some wierd fade or slice. Are there any other ways or do I need to just spend lots of time on the range laying clubs on the ground and getting used to feeling where i'm aiming?

when you stand over the ball hold your club over the ball and parralal with your feet then look up you will see exactly where you are aiming and move your feet left to fix the problem.

If that dosnt work just try aim left, say to your self im going to try start this ball at the left hand side of the green and aim there alot of the time you will accually be aiming strait.

Working on the range with a station (clubs for feet and target) is the best way to repeatedly line up to your target square. Make sure you don't rake and beat once your setup. Instead, go through your preshot routine and move into your setup as often as you can using a target station. If you don't have the patience to do this after every ball, after every fifth or so should be sufficient. Going through this routine (picking your target, setting your clubface square to your target, setting your feet square to your clubhead) will help ingrain a square setup quickly.

The quick fix, bandaid on the course would be to force yourself to pick a target left of your intended line and have a little blind faith that you are lined up correctly. I wouldn't do this for long though, it does nothing for your confidence and sub consciously you might be thinking/fighting that your aimed to far left or is it right. Better to know exactly what your aiming at, in fact pick the smallest target possible and send the ball to the target. Good luck.....

Ive had major troubles with alignment since i first started in 2003. First I aimed to far right of my target, then was told to aim on parrallel lines but then I exagerated and went to far left with an open stance and just kept going back and forth :vava:

The easiet thing for me to do was to set up with my feet at the left hand side of the green and it would feel like I'm aiming WAY left but in reality i was aiming straight at the stick.

I hope you get it sorted out!!

not sure if this will make sense but here we go. after standing behind the ball to pick out a target 6 inches in front of you, place the club square to the target. at this time make sure your feet are together and square to your clubface. last drop your right foot back to place the ball in the proper position. from here you just make sure your shoulders are square and flare out the left foot ( at least I do). have to admit it looks very unusual and I have had people tell me I look like a baseball player stepping into the batters box :vava: hey it works for me and Greg Norman had a little bit of success with his alignment as well. good luck :D
