Cameron Studio Select Newport 2.7

Anyone using one? Reviews?

Looking for a more face balanced putter and I am considering this one. Anyone using one? Reviews? Comparisons to the Newport 2.6 - besides the obvious? Thanks!

I own and play both the Scotty 2.6 and 2.7 (use both toe-hang and face balanced putters....I am lucky that my putting stroke is pretty consistent which does not require one or the other).

The good news is that no matter which Scotty you select....the swing weight 'feels' the same. I find both models very easy to line-up. The 2.6 does have some benefit of the alignment dot on the heel that helps a little....but really the overall putter alignment is easy to aim because of the 'loft' of the putter and the way the alignment lines look. The 2.7 is also very easy to line-up because the s-neck gives you a long full look at the face of the putter.

The feel of the two are almost identical. The consistency of the Scotty line in play.

I say the selection between the two is just a matter of what style neck you want. Just know that the 2.6 has toe-hang to about the 4pm position...even though it is center shafted.

A little disclaimer....I did have the 2.7 most recently in the bag. However I bought a Bettinardi C06 milled putter for $80 at budgetgolf.com that normally sells for $300. It exactly the same setup as the Scotty 2.7....but I am liking the results of the Bettinardi at this time....averaging 27 putts.

i went to the world of golf last night to hit some putters. i was set on the newport 2, but pulled out a 2.7 and started hitting aruond with it. i have to say, the review above is right. the view into the ball is a lot clearer. i just feel like you can see more, and then that in turn leads to confidence, and that in turn led to more putts. granted i was on a green in the store, but the feel was the same. now i am back to the drawing board because i want to keep hitting the 2.7 to make sure i am making the right choice. so far though...i'm 70% leaning towards the 2.7 newport.

I have had mine for about 6 months now and love it. I went from switching between and newport 2 and black series #9 to the 2.7 and have never putted better in my life. I'm not exactly a SBST putter, but I tend to keep the blade square to my arc which is pretty straight. The face balance and clean look really help me hit solid putts and like any scotty the feel is tremendous.

Reviving a 14 year old thread, I just picked up a Newport 2.7 in used, but very original condition w/head cover. I prefer face-balanced putters and never feel comfortable with significant toe hang blades.

i must say, this putter is near face-balanced and I’m pleased with how well I roll with it. Not sure it will bump out my SC Futura X5, but I’d game it upon occasion.

I’m surprised the 2.7 was only available for a short while, for straight-back, straight-through putting, the feel and performance are excellent - it’s great-looking, as well!
