Tour i vs. Tour ix?

I'm heading to the golf shop to pick up some new Callaway golf balls. I've been playing the Z-Star for a while and wanted something..... different. My SS ranges from 90-95 and carry the ball 240+ and rolls out to 250 (driver). I would like a little more distance and spin, but would sacrifice one for the other. Well... you're all know it all's, so give me the scoop. :rolleyes:

My SS is 115mph, use the Tour iX.....its super long and has great spin. The Tour i is a nice ball too, but a little too spinny for me. For your SS though, I'd give it a shot.

Tour i spins more for me... I hit both and could really care less whichever I grab from the bag... Basically saying that you can't go wrong with either one...

Im playing tour ix now but i think the tour i was a hair better... :rolleyes:

Thanks. I bought the Tour i and its a exceptional ball. I can spin it when I want to and have it roll out when I want to. Has a soft feel, but it isn't mushy. :D Chip real well and feels great on flop shots. Putts very nice too. I haven't hit it with driver, but for now, Callaway has made a great ball. :clapping:

Tour i spins more and you can do more in the short game with it; it's long off the driver but about 10 yards shorter than the IX BUT (big but) it's only shorter because the IX is probably the lowest spinning premium ball you can buy. So much in fact it is close to 2 piece spin territory. The IX does sacrifice some greenside spin for the distance off the driver.

your dead on jim good explenation between the two. tmdude, i dont carry a driver but i carry this Taylormade vsteel with a driver shaft(something i found at a nevada bobs)its like my driver but it keeps me in the fairway.The tour i feels and sounds so nice off it. my buddies always comment on the sound, i think u will like the combination of taylormade driver& cally ball

I currently hit the Tour IX, is the Tour I REAL spinny off the driver? Or close to the Tour IX? thanks

tour ix seems fine off the driver, spins enough for wedge shots, but IMO, SUCKS off the putter. It feels like it is wrapped in paper. No feel at all! If all you want is distance, go for the IX. J
