uPro's on backorder

I ordered a uPro from Sports Authority back on June 18, I was told it was in backorder until the middle of July. I also checked the uPro site and Golfsmith they also have ship dates of July 13. Does anyone know why they are backordered until then, is there an updated model or software, or just they have sold so many with the rebate and they need to restock.

 

Hopefully I made the right choice in going with the uPro I was undecided between the SG5.

I was lucky enough to find one in an Edwin Watts in mid June. The guy at the desk told me that it was the last one they had and he said that their warehouse was sold out. Might just be that the demand is much larger than the supply, especially with the rebate.

I ordered one online from Callaway (shop.callawaygolf.com) over the weekend and it shipped Monday, will arrive Thursday.

I originally ordered from a sponsor but after the original ship date was postponed which was no fault of theirs, I ordered from www.tourstop.com who had them in stock. I had it the next day. They also are offering free 2nd day fedex.

i am waiting on a replacement unit and got them to give me 30 free credits for the wait. The old unit is usable, but the screen is jumpy when i turn it on

I think Calloway is playing a game with availability of the uPro and the rebate program. Even on their site it says they will not be shipped for 2 - 3 weeks which would put it past the July 31 timeframe for the rebate eligibility.

 

I ordered one from Sports Authority on June 18, at the time I ordred it it said 7 - 10 business days for shipping, now they also are saying 2 - 3 weeks because they are on backorder. It looks like to me that Calloway does not want to make more units available for the rebate so they are holding back stock. The only reason I ordered from Sports Authorthity was because I have $150 of gifts certficates I received as gifts.

 

I am now thinking of cancelling my order and going with the new Golf Guru 4 which looks like a better GPS with the touch screen, and use my gift certificates for Pro V's.

 

Has anyone else had similar experience or thoughts.

I received an e-mail this morning from Sports Authority stating they do not have a ship date when they will be receiving more uPro's. I think Callaway is controlling inventory to limit the amount of rebate money they will need to pay to the units they have shipped prior to the rebate program. Has anyone known of a retailer who has received more stock of uPro's if they have run out?

It is not about the ship date... it is about the order date. If you ordered by 7/31 you have until 8/15 to submit your rebate request.

Callaway isn't playing any games. They just didn't think the demand would be so great. I ordered mine from Golfland Warehouse. Spoke to them today and I'm on the list to get mine. Callaway has also extended the rebate to 8/31.

GPPGolf has them for $350 (-) the $100 rebate and I confirmed they are an authorized Callaway seller for the uPro.

I ended up buying the uPro and GX-1 to see which I will end up keeping.

Thanks. Just ordered one from them. Called to confirm and he said they do have them in stock.
