TP Red comparable to what?

It seems like a lot of premium balls come in 2 versions, a high spin shorter ball (for slow ss) and lower spin longer ball (high ss). What balls bit into each category for prov, z star, b330, nike, ect

 

I was also looking at TMs mid priced ball the burner and burner TP. I heard that the burner is comparable to the black and the burner tp to the red. is this true?

The TaylorMade balls are a little complicated.

 

RED LDP= softer, flies lower, less spin

 

Black LDP= firmer of the two, higher ball flight, more spin

 

The Black would be more comporable to the ProV1, ZStar, Cally I

Ther Red would be more like the ProV1X, etc

 

I would hit both the Red and Black and see which one you like better because they are pretty similar.

you are correct if talking about the orginal tp red and tp black balls, but the most recent line (the tp red/black ldp, first released 08ish) has it reversed, and the post above yours is correct. The tp red ldp is one of the lowest spinning premium balls on the market, and feels, in my opinion, somwhere between the 07 prov1 and 07 prov1x

The box on the new TP Black LDP says "for low spin players". Very, very unclear! I guess it's for low spin players who want more spin. I assumed the reverse.

There actually isn't a direct comparison if I'm to believe the TMAG info.

 

The TP Red LDP is supposed to feel like the old Pro V1 and have the flight characteristics of the old Pro V1X according to what they say unless I've been confused so much that I just don't know!

The Burner is a distance ball. Burner TP spins much more than the Burner, but less than the Black and Red. The Burner TP is a great ball for the $.

For what its worth I played the tp black last year. This year, I like the tp red better.

Take this for what it is worth, Not an expert here by any means

 

I am an average swing speed. < than 100 mph with the driver, Regular shafts on all my clubs.

I played the Bridgestone B330 RX earlier this year and played the Prov 1 last year.

 

I felt the the prov1 had two much spin off of the driver for me, kind of exagerated my slice. I was loosing a lot of distance off the tee unless i hit one perfect. So after all the hype last fall (ads and commercials) tried the Bridgestone and to my suprise i gained some yardage back and the slice turned into a nice fade. This RX also felt pretty good around the greens but kinda hard off of the putter, not as good as the Pro V1. So that was my delima.

 

Fast forward to now, Got a TP Red.ldp from a friend of mine about a month ago. Tried it and fell in love with it. To me this ball fits my swing speed/ feel requirements and now will only play these until some else changes my mind. it feels great off of the tee, but where this ball excels is in wedges and chips. I have never had a ball spin so much for me, please remember my swing speed, and getting a ball to come back is not easy for me to do. and the putter feel is like a last year's soft Prov1

 

This ball has added a bunch of confidence in my game that i did not have before.

Also the 2 for $55 at retail is not bad, but the $12 a dozen at lostgolfballs.com is even better...

The blacks feel like a prov1x to me, just my opinion.

I'm a high speed, high spin player (115+ SS with the driver) and I really like the TP Red's. I've tried both the Red's and the Blacks and can't stand the balcks. However, the Red's still spin just a little more than I would ideally like so I've decided to give the Burner TP a try. I'm hoping that it will feel close enough to the Red off the putter and cut just enough spin off my shots to turn my full wedges that back up 20+ feet into full wedges that back up 5 feet.
