Most compact/smallest rangefinder? Please offer advice!

I am looking to spend $300 or less for my very first rangefinder. I have read a lot of articles and it seems the pinseeker 1500 is rated as the best performance, but people say its pretty big. I really want something very compact to put in my pocket, and if it means I need to shoot the pin a couple extra times, so be it. Does pinseeker make a compact version you recommend? I know callaway has some compact ones too. Please advise me thanks!!!

In the following order of my preference:

Leupold GX-1 ($260+ NEW on Ebay)
Nikon Monarch 800 ($240+ NEW on Ebay)
Bushnell V2 Tour ($$260+ NEW on Ebay)

Leica has a new PinMaster coming out any day, but the price should be somewhere between $425-$500, but it should be both small and best of class image & performance.

I owned both a new GX-I and a used Nikon 800, and I ended up keeping the Nikon 800 to save about $75.

Leupold GX-1 is the hands down blue-ribbon winner in this category...small, lightweight, dead-on precise!

+1 on the Nikon 800. Nothing beats the Pinseeker 1500 for ease of use, but if size is your criteria the Nikon is very good. Ease of acquiring a target is much better than the Bushnell V2. I have not tried the Leupold but have heard good things about it.

I can't think of any rangefinder I would be willing to stick in my pocket! Maybe you could wear it on your belt, but in a pocket would be really tough to do.

+1 on the Nikon 800. Nothing beats the Pinseeker 1500 for ease of use, but if size is your criteria the Nikon is very good. Ease of acquiring a target is much better than the Bushnell V2. I have not tried the Leupold but have heard good things about it.

I've been using the Tour V2 for 2 seasons now, and I've found it to be remarkably easy to acquire any target I want with it. I can quickly pick up an ordinary flag from 250 yards out, and that's about as much as anyone could need in any practical sense. If the course has laser reflectors, then I can pick them up from farther than most anyone can hit a ball... 350 yards or more.

Callaway LR 800 is a great one. I own the LR 1200 and love it...but a buddy of mine has the 800 and it is considerably smaller than mine. Either one is a solid rangefinder.
