My First Rangefinder

I want to purchase either a Leupold GX-II or a Bushnell 1600 Slope Edition. Please help me with some input on which way to go. Thanks.

Neither one of those units may be used in a round used to establish a handicap nor may they be used in tournaments that have the local rule which allows distance measuring devices.

I agree... consider carefully the value of the slope or club selection feature. I briefly had a GX-II and while it was cool, I went back to a USGA legal rangefinder.

Personally, I would go with either a GX-I or Nikon Monarch 800 for the smaller size. The 1600 TE offers slightly better performance in some conditions, but not enough to justify the extra $$$ and bigger size.

The 1600 TE is USGA legal. The 1600 TE with slope is not.

There is no such thing as a 1600 TE with slope. The "TE" stands for "Tournament Edition" and, if it had slope, it would not be allowed in tournaments.
