range finders - adjusting slope on mine

Hey All,

 

I bought the Callaway LR 550 at the beg of the season. I went from guessing to this range finder. It has helped drastically! The only times I get out of wack is if the green or the item im grabbing onto his elevated or lower then my position.

 

Last week I had a chip shot with an elevated green maybe 15 yards up. Range finder read 80 yards, I went with my eyes and took a 60 yard club and the club was a perfect distance.

 

-Anyone got any advice in adjusting yardages with elevated greens with a range finder that does not read slope?

For every 1 yard of elevation = 1 yard more on the range finder reading?

 

-Also how are the range finders with slope? Are they point on? I probably wouldn't trade mine in and buy them (too expensive) but I was just curious.

Well, the first thing is that uphill shots require more club, not less. So how could you get an 80 yard reading and decide to use a 60 yard club?

Second, rangefinders that have the ability to calculate slope are not legal for rounds uses to establish a handicap and may not be used in tournaments that allow rangefinders.

My main question is how much do you compensate for elevated greens?

Do range finders output further distances for uphill greens?

Hitting from an elevated tee I would use less club than I would normally use. Hitting up to an elevated green I would use more club than I would normally use. If you think you should use a 60 yard club to hit to an elevated green that measure 80 yards away with a laser rangefinder, you would be wrong.
