Just bought one should be here in a few days hopefully. This will be my first GPS so hopefully I got the right one, was looking into the 2.5 but for the extra cash it looked like a good upgrade to go 3.5 especially I figured I would want to upgrade if I got the 2.5 hopefully this one will last me a long while.

Hey mojo_13.

I just took the plunge on a 3.5 too, also my first GPS.

Trialled an SG5 recently and liked how it worked but thought it was just way too big. The 2.5-like size with SG5 features means the 3.5 HAS to be a winner. I hope so anyway....

I downloaded the manual from the skygolf site toady just to ease the wait, think the whole hole view is also a bonus from the SG5.

Would be keen on a black silicone skin but can't seem to find any on the net. Anyone?...

Thanks for the idea just downloaded the manual too and looked through it. I have never actually seen any of the units in person because the nearest golf shop is over two hours away so it was all strictly on reviews around the web. But from what I hear you are correct in the size and features arena.

Also some sort of skin would be a great way to keep it looking new if you find one let me know.

Received mine today...as for the size comparing to a SG5 it's only marginally "shorter", and a bit wider. Which was a surprise, I had expected it to be smaller, but imo it really is not. Not that it's a bad thing, just surprising.

Interesting comments on the size. Weird how just from pics we all expect it to be a lot smaller than the 5!

Any chance of an in-hand pic 78Staff? And I don't suppose you've had chance to hit the course yet have you?
I just got an SG5 from work to demo tomorrow and am considering buying one but i am unsure whether or not you have to pay each year just to download courses. Its a bit confusing!
Yes, you have to pay annual fees to keep the downloaded courses.. think of it as "renting" the course information. If your membership expires, you can only use it with the courses you map yourself (up to 5 I believe).

There are other units that do not have annual memberships or you can buy the course and you own it.

Here's a pic... Bigger than 2.5 easily. wider but thinner than SG5.

Played with it this weekend, other than size and batteries, it basically the same as the SG5 I had before.

Cool. Thanks 78Staff. Cheers for putting in the CD for perspective.

Good to hear it's doing the job on the course.

Went to check one of these out @ Dick's to see if I would change from a v300.
The extra width isn't that bad, but the thing that I didn't like was the feel of the plastic. The SG5 has the rubberized edges, so it feels as though it could take some abuse. My v300 also has rubber edges, and durable feeling plastic. The plastic case of the sg3.5 just felt hard and thin comparatively. I'd be worried it would crack too easy.

The addition of the hole view feature in conjunction with skycaddie's already great features definitely has me contemplating a change though.

Well, mine arrived last Friday and I can't speak highly enough about it.

Went to the course on Saturday and spent at least and hour recording distances through my entire bag including half, and three quarter wedge shots.

Played nine holes and it was the lowest front nine I've shot in months.

Every approach was pin-high and I hit 8 of 9 greens in regulation. It's staggering looking at the standard markers and how the distances vary to the GPS unit. At times it's like "there's no way it's a 6-iron," but I trusted the unit and guess what, pin-high.

If you put the effort in to learn your distances, this things worth it's weight in gold.

Just want a silicone skin for it now...

I am luke warm on the SG3.5 after 2 rounds...coming from the upro (which I sold, mainly due to screen view issues in sunlight and short battery life), back to the SG line (had the SG5 before the upro) is somewhat disappointing. I guess I got used to having the hole view and being able to tell a yardage anywhere on the hole.

So, I bought a Garmin Approach to try, should be here by the end of the week. Like the upro but with graphic images instead of pictures, should be easier to see from the reviews I've read, plus replaceable AA's so no more worries about battery life. Have 30 days to return either so if I like the Garmin this weekend the SG3.5 may be going back.
I just ordered a Skycaddie sg3.5. Can't wait to try it out.

Any other opinions out there about the 3.5?
I got mine and have a hand full of rounds on it and really like it. I've only been able to use it on my home course so it will be alot better when I can use it on some other courses but it has helped me out and is very easy to use. This is my first GPS but yardages seem very accurate and the inteligreen feature is great.
anybody find a really good price on the sg3.5? or are we just ordering them through skygolf?... best i've seen is $269... anybody know better than that?...
There are many on ebay from online retailers such as golfetail that are going for $200-$225 that is where I got mine. Cheaper than getting it from their site.
