Shafts to put in my irons

I'll be getting new irons rather shortly and my shaft option is just up in the air. I hit the ball fairly high, and would like to get it down as much as I can. On top of changing a couple things in my swing I am still debating and have been for about 3-4 weeks about what shafts to get for my irons. I have made my decision on buying Nike Pro Combo Tours. Would the difference between the Project X and a Rifle really matter? and what about x100s? I swing fairly fast with a quick tempo, about 105-112 with the driver, and currently playing S300s right now. I'm open to all ideas at this point. Let me know what you think would work, thatnks for all the help.

If you like your S-300's, I would suggest you go with the X-100's. Proj X in 6.5 or Rifle in 6.5 are both good but since you are playing DG S-300 now, keep with the same brand.

 

To myself, the Proj X 6.5's hit mid-high with a flat trajectory, and Rifles just a shade higher and with a touch less flatness in tracjectory, and the DG X-100s are low to mid launch with a very flat trajectory. My .02 :)

PXs will go higher than the X100s, stay with DGX100, they are smoother feeling than S300s to me

I flighted the ball high as well and these ( at least the clubs I tested with them in it) brought the flight down significantly with nice trajectory.

The DG shafts are not for me,,,I hit them well but the feel just isn't there.However I do have experience with Rifles,,about 10 years worth,,,here is my take:

If you hit the ball rather high with DGs then you would want the project X shaft over the reg Rifle,,,but beware,,PXs play a little stiffer than reg rifles.The project X is a very advanced version of " flighted" rifles with each shaft specifically designed for each particular club.

I played rifle 6.5 for 7 years,and have now dropped to the 6.0 which fits me perfectly,,,but I did try the PXs in 6.0 and they played a "little" stiffer than my old rifle 6.5s,,,my suggestion with what you are trying to accomplish is to go with PX 6.0s,,,your ball flight will come down [noticeably] but will still spin & stop after a flatter trajectory,,,DON'T BE FOOLED by the 6.0 designation in the PX,,,at your SS it will handle ALL you can give it plus allow you to "feel" it better.By design the shorter clubs will play stiffer and the long irons,,4,3 will be more tip responsive.

Personally I like a high ball flight with my irons which is why I still play Rifle 6.0,,,and I know many players SWEAR by TT DGs,,,but if you blindfold them and had them accurately hit the same club with the Rifle vs the DG I find it difficult to believe they would prefer the feel and accuracy of DGs over Rifles,,but then again,,,different strokes for ,,,,???
