Is This a proto Vokey?

I am far from a Titleist junkie - but is this some sort of prototype or is it just a regular production Vokey? It does not look like the wedges currently on the Titleist website...

It's a retail production Vokey. It's the 400 series. They only made the retail ones in chrome and they stopped production on them a couple of years ago, which is why you do not see it on the Titleist website.

looks like a standard retail 400 series Vokey. Google it and you should find a ton of stuff. Vokey had the 200 and the 400 deries for years. Just recently he focused more on the 200 series and different versions of that one.

Reid (Pitbull) had some Pics he took of Bob Vokey himself working on some tour issued 400 series this year at the Sony Open. So they are still floating around on tour and on retail markets. Joe Kwok had some for sale just a little bit ago. Many of the tour issued wedges have special stamping on the hosel such as "TC" Tour Comp'd etc.

Why did they stop making these, I had a couple of them and loved them. I think I liked them because they had a square look to them at address. I am not really a fan of vokeys, I like cleveland, but of the vokeys these were the best.

Were sales just not good on them? or was there something wrong with the wedge?

I would guess that sales drove the conclusion of the 400 series. The 200 series wedge was a WAY better seller. I can't remember the last time I saw someone use on of the 400's. It's a good wedge for the player that wants a bigger head and raised toe look.
