suggestions?

I am getting my dad a pull cart for Christmas. Any suggestions?

I don't know much about the other kinds, but I have the SunMountain SpeedCart v1 and is fine. My regular golf buddy has the clicgear and he likes that as well. Never a problem, easy to use. Honestly...I'd go with whichever one is cheaper at this point.

I gave my dad a Sunmountain Speed cart like 4 years ago and he still uses it. Its one of the best.

PUSH car.. either a SM or Clicgear. There are many threads here discussing clicgear vs Sun Mountain.. I personally own a clicgear and never have had any problems.. the Sun Mountains are pretty solid.

Other option would be the Bag Boy but never used one of those.

There's a ton of threads on which carts are best, which carts work best with which bags.etc...

Clicgear. The way it folds up is genius.

with practice, it is very easy to fold, and then stow in the trunk of a car. It takes up very little room in the garage or basement in the off season.

Be sure to get the wheel cover accessory - it keeps grass clippings and mud out of the car.

Really, the thing is pure genius.

I've got the Clicgear and all my friends have the SM because they didn't know any better. I would not trade and would buy another CG in a second. They fold up so much nicer and are just as nice unfolded.

Don't get a pull cart, get him a push cart. It will do wonders for his back. I have had a Speedcart for about 4 years. It works fantastic. When I had a warranty issue, they were wonderful to deal with. Frankly, dazzleling.

One thing: Some of the new models have gone to solid tires. Gets rid of the hassle of keeping the tires inflated. I think regular tires roll better than the old "plastic" wheels. The newer verisions, I am not sure.

Give him the best - Sun Mountain Speed Cart V2. It's a little big and heavy, but there's nothing better out there. It also doesn't require strapping the bag in which makes it truly stand out. Clicgear's ok and smaller, but it's still not a SMV2.

I have the sunmountain 2009 and like it very much, but I store my clubs/cart at the club so size isn't a big deal to me.

Both clic gear and Sun mountain V2 are built solid. You can't go wrong with either one.

I have the clic gear 2.0 , I chose it because it's more compact when folding.

Recently upgraded from a Sun Mountain v1 to a v2 and love it. Tried the clic, but I'm over 6'3" in shoes and the handle didn't come up high enough for me. Other than that I would have gotten it. But I'm not in the least disappointed with the v2. Built like a truck, fits fine in my little Scion xD, and the foam tires actually roll easier than the old inflatables.

As stated previously, either would be a wonderful gift.

I own the clicgear but since my purchase I have used the SM many times. Although the clicgear folds up "smaller/easier", the SM goes through wet rough and muck better. The SM also has more storage than Clicgear. The Clicgear collects a LOT of dirt and grass in it's knobby tires.

Don't get me wrong, the Clicgear is very good but I think the SM has an edge over it.

Clicgear here also. I don't think you could go wrong with a Sun Mountain either. I was desiding between the SM Micro and the Clic 2.0. I liked the handle better on the Clic, plus it's built like a tank.
