how much stiffer will this be?

So I tried an experiment with a steel shaft in my titlesit 983K, did not work so well.

I cut the stock speeder for titleist stiff shaft right above the hosel, and drilled out 1.25" of the old shaft down the hosel leaving the remainder of the old shaft to keep the bore through plugged.

If I put the speeder shaft back in (now stiff tipped 1.25") and use a butt extension to get back to the 45" length, how much stiffer will this play? Is 1.25" going to take me from stiff to x stiff or xx stiff??

my opinion is to get another speeder shaft, they arent too pricey if im not mistaken. i would get the rest of the shaft out of the head, a bore through is a borethrough, i believe they play best in their original state. to shaft a borethrough all you have to do is find a shaft with a longer parallel tip section to accomodate the added length of a borethrough hosel install. you prep to the correct borethrough length on the tip of shaft. insert shaft(epoxy coated) into head, holding the head side, tap the butt end of the shaft on a hard surface. keep tapping until you see the tip poke out the otherside just even with the very bottommost part of the bore. then once dry and cured, (or even before then, because this will be a tight fit, so it wont slide around much at all) use a light abrasive wheel on a dremel or better a bench grinder to grind down the shaft almost even with the head. the final touch up is to use a cloth wheel to shape the rest to be flush with the bottom of the head. use a plastic plug that has been epoxied to fit in the shaft hole, once that cures grind that down even like u did with the shaft tip. then you are all done and its factory done. thats how they do it at titleist, i have been priviliged enough to see them do it. sorry for the long how to do list, but thats how i know its done. its really quite easy i reshafted my titleist 907 D1 with a graphite design ys6+s thats in my witb signature and it came out great. any other questions you can pm me, hope that helps.
