You know the length of JB's driver? I swear it looks close to 46" on TV, but maybe that's because he's short.

He's messing around with different putters, he had the NC-X in play at the Shark Shootout (and I think most of the year), and at the ADT Skills Challenge he had the Spider again. He was playing the Kombi at the beginning of 2009.

Saw JB rip a driver, hybrid to the uphill 580 yard 17th at Riviera today. (Ben Hogan would probably turn over in his grave if he witnessed the assault.) In any event, is JB still using the ZL driver?

Apparently Stockton loves insert putters too because everyone that goes up there comes back with an AGSI insert putter. Except Phil of course but he ain't changing his putter style, ever. Glad to see JB putt better though. His year might have just gotten better.

That 2nd he hit with the hybrid was a thing of absolute beauty and to 4 feet or so? C'mon, that was freaking incredible.

Later, a closeup looked like he was using an L4V.

Wow does he really use a 21* hybrid? He was 255 out yesterday and hit a high slight draw bomb to like 5 feet. That was ridiculous.

Well to be fair, if you're listening to your putting instructor about everything involving that aspect of your game, you're going to listen to him on putter selection. Like when I went to see David Orr and he tells me no one makes better putters than David Edel, I listen.

I HATE the AGSI insert. I think it feels like plastic and looks cheap. The steel one could be an upgrade, though...

I saw he was playing the L4V again this week at Pebble Beach - the dimples were obvious on TV in high definition. He's definitely not playing the ZL or the Pro D. kinda interesting that he's going with the L4V over these two isn't it?

JB Holmes has been bombing his driver at the match play championships well over 300 yds. The shaft in his driver looks like the gold UST Axivcore probably in the 80-90 gram weight. Can anyone confirm or add to this.

Is metal better than ice? Perhaps for J.B. Holmes, who switched this week from an Odyssey White Ice #1 putter to a Metal-X #1 model.

Holmes, known for his long drives, has ranked 97th on the PGA Tour in total putting this season. He's especially struggled with putts between 5 and 15 feet, where he's only converted 44.6 percent of his attempts.

The Metal-X putter that he changed to features a metal insert with a pattern of oval indentations designed to align with a golf ball's dimples. When the putter face strikes the ball, the connection between those indentations and the ball increases friction and starts the ball rolling more true along the line. It also incorporates a urethane layer behind the metal face to improve feel and keep the weight on the face low.

Using the new putter, Holmes finished T34 in putts per round at the Canadian Open, with an average of 29. He was also 51st in strokes gained - putting. He was T15 for the tournament.
