Wow, tough week for fantasy golfers last week. Who would have predicted Chris Couch going low on the weekend to win his first event on the PGA Tour. But what a finish it was, an exciting ending to a great week for Chris, hats off. This week we move to Charlotte, NC for the Wachovia Championship.

The Wachovia Championship is played at the long and dangerous Quail Hollow. This is a course that rewards good ball striking and shotmaking. You may remember it as the tournament that Garcia let slip away. He had a six shot lead heading into Sunday but his even par 72 allowed Furyk and Singh to catch him with Singh eventually winning.

I’m expecting a similar finish to this year’s event. Vijay seems to be getting closer to his old form. His solid iron play should keep him in contention again this year. Vijay has also never missed a cut here in his previous three tries.

Jim Furyk has been hot lately. He finished second last week and has been in contention almost every time out for the last couple months. This might be a good week for him to pick up his first victory of 2006.

How about another player on a roll of late; Stuart Appleby. I don’t know if Appleby will have the motivation or energy to win this week but I expect a top 20 finish from him at the very least. Appleby is a very good player, it has always been his consistency that has been the problem.

And last but not least how about Ben Curtis. Curtis almost fell off the map after his British Open title but he has been playing better of late. If Curtis could put it all together again for a week he could be in contention.

So there we have it for the Wachovia Championship. I know I’ve struggled the past few weeks but I’ve learned. I’ve gone back to the drawing board and come up with a new strategy for picking my fantasy players. Lets see how it works out this week.
