Anyone think the Taylor Made Burner Tours were Good?

I know the Taylor Made Burner Tours are old in design and style compared to the new and latest and greatest Taylor Made TP blades as far as a players club goes, but what are your thoughts? Are these older low handicap clubs just as good? I picked up a set in awsome condition with all original S-90 rifle shafts and Taylor Made wrap grips. I've played them twice in place of my 704cb irons and hit them about a half club farther and just as straight. They feel every bit as good too. Makes me wonder why we all buy new clubs every year when some of the old stuff (anywhere from 11 to 8 years old according to Taylor Made's vintage iron website on the Burner Tours) is just as good in performance and feel. The look is a little outdated with the painted grooves, but a little acetone and steel brush can take care of that. Anyone have an opinion on clubs that are now about $100 for a used set that were the greatest of the time? Here's a useless fact on the Burner Tours. They won three major is 1998 with Omeara winning the British and a Masters and Janzen won the US Open. They can't be to bad.

Those clubs are on my top 5 favorite irons ever made list. Maybe it was the fact that they had rifle shafts in them stock, it hit anything with a rifle shaft awesome. But I really liked the head as well.

Good to hear from fellow Burner Tour fans out there. I've played them from 97 to 03. But haven't been happy with anything else since, and I've tried lots: LT 1 & 2, Hogans, 704's, MP-32 & 60. Every time I retire them to the basement, I end up bringing them back. They simply look great, setup great, length is great, feedback is great. Have to admit, the 3-iron's kinda difficult to hit, especially on a cold day, but everything else is great. The search goes on...

I don't know, but if so, they have won just about as many majors as any other single club in alot of years. I can't think of any other iron with the exception of Tigers Nike Blades or Titleist Blades that have won as many total majors in the past few decades.

Does anyone think they hit the ball to high? I hit them a little high, but straight, so I think I'll replace my 704cb irons with them. They feel every bit as good and I don't feel like I have to baby them. What ever happens to them, happens to them and I will hopefully play a little better with them.
