Add me to the list of believers! Just got my prox recently and now understand what everyone is talking about. It was encouraging to learn my swing already had forward lean but the tour striker really helps you focus on that feeling. Just a fraction off and you get instant feedback - ball goes too low means not enough lean, right means toe hit, left means heel hit. I also tried the pro and for those deciding between the two my opinion is that both encourage forward lean just as much as each other with the difference being the prox really makes you focus on hitting the sweet spot - sort of like hitting a blade compared to a forgiving cavity back.

From my club-fitting sessions, I know I play with a forward shaft lean, yet I rarely get that compressed ball "pinching" feeling on a shot. My guess is that I shy away from truly compressing the ball because I often play on wet, lush fairways.

My standard iron shot is what I think is called a "trap-draw" that has a mid flight, moderate length, and doesn't hold the green. I do better with wedges.

Is this something that the tourstriker can help me with? (and which model should I get).

just got the ts pro a few days ago tried it out 3 times at the range already and twice before my regular rounds this week
very very nice club

it promotes the forward shaft lean feeling for sure
the pro definitely makes you focus on hitting that small sweetspot

great product
Im going to keep using mine for my warm ups before I play (especially when I havent played for a week days) to help me remember what I should be feeling at impact

Martin,

I am a flipper of the hands after impact and have little forward shaft lean. I am, however, able to flush my TS.. Should I step up to the Pro to further enhance the need to stop the flipping?
The leading edge of the 8 iron is .530, whereas the Pro is .720 which makes a big difference. The first club I made was actually "The Pro." The designer who made the original CAD thought I was nuts, so I got scared and made the .530 model. The .530 model (8 iron) has a little cheat in it.

Try a demo somewhere so you don't waste your money.

Trap draws should stop fine. Play courses with softer greens:) Just kidding.

Sounds like you might want to find shafts that launch the ball a little higher or modify your swing path so you can hit a straight shot or cut.

Shaft lean basically promotes an inside out path unless you can pivot the plane square or left. A lot of bodies are not capable of that move.

Not sure the TS will help you as you already lean it. Find a TS Pro or TS Pro X and demo it. Ask your pro to get one. Or, we give you 30 days return policy on the website. You would be out the shipping and custom charges (if you did any).

Hello Martin,
Just ordered TS Pro 7 with stiff shaft. My problem is hitting behind the ball or a straight pull left. My good shots are picked fairly clean (minimal divots), and my natural ball flight is fairly high. I'm wondering if the Pro version will be beneficial? Will it change my ball flight(which I like) along with my ball striking? Are there any drills I should be doing? All the great feedback I'm seeing has got my hopes up for some great progress. Thanks so much, Chris

Hey Martin, check your email after reading this. (spoiler alert: Pro X is too hard for me black eye.gif )

isn't that a good thing? Hitting something that is already easy for you wont help you as much as when you have mastered the most difficult version. Can you chip with it? 9 to 3 swings? I think you're missing an opportunity here by downgrading.

The X is harder in the size of the striking area only. The elevated leading edge is the same height. The X helps ensure you don't get too steep (high handle) and use the tipped toe to help elevate the ball off the ground. If Frankie is flustered, I'll find a used model and swap him out. No biggie.

Thanks Martin :) By the way, what's the best shipping company? Is it Fedex or UPS? I'll ship it back to you all clean and refurbished.

I've had better luck with FedEx, but use whichever is cheapest. USPS gets it done too.

Ship to:

You talked me into it Martin :) Just ordered the Pro X 7. I am a pretty good ball striker, but my strikes are getting inconsistent lately. I am a high single digit handicap. Was I right getting the X first, or should I have started with the regular?

We'll have to wait and see. You should be fine and with a little time, you'll dig it and get a lot better. Thank you!

What causes the "clean" shots? Is that little or no shaft lean and "flipping"? Is that why I have such a high ball flight? My 7 iron shots can sometimes fly as high as my buds SW but still go 150yds. I love the quick stop on the greens, will this change after TS? I confess I don't know enough about the swing, and want to get to single digit handicap (15 now) and be able to work the ball better. My short game is definitely improving (using the Tom Watson book 'Getting Up and Down' as a guide) but irons have become more erratic with a loss in distance :angry22:. Frustrating!!!
Also, I ordered the expedited shipping, I was wondering if that is from the date of order? Being a holiday weekend, I'm sure it will take longer to get here, I'm just anxious to get started. I set my net up in the back yard yesterday in anticipation of getting started!
Thanks!! Chris

In a lot of cases, high shots are a result of early "breaking" or "stopping" of the arms/body and thus the shaft passes vertical too early in the swing. The TS is built so you transfer your angles a little longer and deeper into the downswing sharing commonalities with better ball strikers.

In no way to I want you to "hold" angles, but I do want you to retain the angle naturally by having supple wrists so your rotary core can influence the natural expanding effect of the left wrist and club shaft.

If you are hitting it shorter, you may be disturbing how the club uncocks. The TS will help you.

It will ship out on Tuesday. You'll have it as described or we'll get you some kind of credit.

Thanks for trying it out!

Cheers,

Martin

Just a few days into working with my TS8I in combination with the Swingyde that I attached, here's some observations...

My tendency to chickenwing/flip is seriously improving. Also, my left arm is staying considerably straighter, and the swingyde is really conditioning my swing to the feel of having proper wrist hinge.

The ball explodes off of the TS when struck properly. I've generally been working on 9-3 drills and the combination of an improving pivot, wrist hinge, and club face impact position literally feel like someone else is swinging the club..
I'm thrilled with both products, and highly recommend the combo.

Thanks for your response Martin, I can honestly say that your willingness to answer inquiries about the TS was a factor in my deciding to give this thing a whirl.
So when I hear commentators on tour mention players for example Jeff Ogilvie and Davis Loves natural high ball flight, is it some variant of this?(obviously with much better results! haha) I'm just curious, and trying to understand just what will be needed for me to properly use this tool. It is probably on the dvd, and if so I can get the answers there. Once again thanks for your response, looking forward to the benefits of using this great tool! Chris
BTW, today I played at a classic old course this morning (Swope Memorial )that in the 40s and 50s hosted the Kansas City Open. There were photos in the clubhouse of Ben Hogan and Sam Snead golfing in the tournament there, and was wondering if the players then also had this kind of lag in their swing or if it's something that has evolved over the years. I also ask b/c I think Snead had an amazing swing and sometimes try to visualize that tempo when I practice. I'll stop rambling now, all the best and will post my results after my practice with the TSPro. Thanks!

Chris

Thanks for the feedback. The Swingyde is a great, simple device; the best kind! I'm glad you are feeling some improvement.

The swing dynamics of skilled players hasn't changed much, if any, since the advent of the steel shaft. We all look a little different, but we load and unload in a very similar manner irregardless of swing style.
