Ping, Adams, Mizuno, Callaway

Long-time lurker, love these threads so I thought I'd finally snap some pics and add mine in as well, specs are in my signature.





















This was a gunmetal Cameron that I bought new back in '97, sadly shortly thereafter we played a course with fresh fertilizer on the greens in high school, by the end of the round the finish was stripped off in places on the face and sole, so I went ahead and took the rest off with CLR, have always intended to have it re-finished and still haven't got around to sending it in.

Love the Mizzie's. Nice putter, too. I didn't realize the face of the i15 was that deep. Very nice.

SwingLikeElk, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the i15 in person for the first time, for some reason the official pictures I had seen online seemed to make it look like the face wasn't that deep.

Spy Zinger, yes I picked up the driver shortly after it was released and got about 12 rounds in with it before the cold/snow set in. I absolutely love it, it has been the most accurate driver I've ever owned, bar none. Just my experience, but I couldn't be happier so far.


My miss has [b]always[/b] been left so I tend towards fade biased drivers, my previous one was a Cleveland HiBore XL Tour 8.5 with the red tour shaft, that was a 3 degree open face. This is more of a biased weighting rather than a blatantly open face (I believe it may be 0.5 degree to 1 degree open, couldn't find the face angle on Ping's site). I hit it just as far as the HiBore with a slightly more penetrating trajectory (which I was looking for). The key difference I've found is that I can "go after it" a little more with this club and have the ability to shape the ball more-so than I did with Cleveland. The look at address is far and away the nicest I've seen out of a Ping driver (IMHO). Is it the longest driver I've ever owned? No, but it's not too far behind, and like I said, I find the fairway more with this driver than any other I've owned. If you're at all interested I'd definitely go hit one, I was sold after about five or six balls.

Love to see a great setup w/different equipment that works for the operator. Have you been able to try the new Adams Idea black? I'm looking to add a second hybrid and that has caught my eye.

Thanks and Go Blue! Probably will be adding the driver headcover in the near future, just trying to decide if I want to go with a different pattern than the hybrid one or not, maybe Argyle instead of the stripes?

Thanks! I've always kind of just gone with what seemed to work regardless of brand. I find that I tend to think I'll like one club, but when I hit a group of them I'm almost always surprised by what works the best. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to hit the Pro Black yet, it was a very welcome Christmas present and just have not had a chance to make it out to one of the heated range stalls yet.

Sorry for dredging up this old thread, but I figured it's better to keep all of this in one place rather than start another one. Anyways, here's my updated WITB: I had to laugh when I pulled this up because I was thinking "I haven't changed many of my clubs lately" then I look back at the original post and realize, "oh I've changed nearly all of them..." Whoops! The original Newport remains unfinished, although I've kind of accepted that I like the mojo of its look for now.

 

Anyways, here's WITB as of July '14 (lots of pics, my apologies):

 

Same actual bag at least... Irons are now Mizuno MP-52's, 4i-PW S300, had to face facts and admit the MP-67's were simply too much club for me, I've been a much happier golfer ever since.

 

 

The one club I'll probably never get rid of...

 

G25, stock stiff shaft, set to 1/2 degree lower loft... love this thing

 

 

 

I hadn't had a 3-wood in the bag for over 10 years (still have the 17 degree Heavenwood in the back-up bag, probably will never get rid of it) but this Adams actually has become one of my favorite clubs over the past two seasons, straight and consistent.

This bumped the 20 degree Pro Black out of the bag once I put the 3 wood in, the shaft is a telephone pole but my miss has always been left and this is definitely anti-left.

 

 

Can you ever have enough gloves?

Great setup man! Thinking about trying the oban shafts out once I save some funds. Need to find a place to demo them.
