UST Adds V2 Hybrid Shaft

Thanks for stopping by everyone! SirPutts and I have had a really busy day doing website stuff. We’re working on golf club reviews and a few “Quick 18’s”… the next few weeks should be a lot of fun! We’ll also unveil our 2006 Golf Company Of The Year in the very near future. Lots of work but lots of fun too! A new shaft from UST and a new putter from Cobra Golf top our news and notes…

UST has expanded their popular V2 line with the introduction of the Proforce V2 hybrid shaft. We’ve talked about the V2 shaft in the past and we did a “Shaft Profile” on it just a couple of weeks ago. This new shaft features the same technologies as the original V2 but is designed specifically for hybrids, long irons and fairway woods. The V2 has a slightly softer tip than the UST IRod and is available in three different tip diameters that allows it to fit almost all hybrids and fairway woods.

Cobra Golf has introduced a new putter that features a slightly different type of sight line. The new Cobra Optica SL putters (there are two styles) feature an aluminum body and face, a urethane coating (for better feel) and glowing dots along the sight line. Cobra hopes that these glowing fibre optic points (called TRUGLO) will make it easier for golfers to line up their putts. I really want to see one of these in person… it’s a different idea and I’m curious to see how well it works. The Optica putters are available this month so keep your eyes open… they should be easy to see!

Nike Golf has expanded their R&D facility in Fort Worth… a sign that the company is committed to staying in the golf business. This new facility features pretty much everything the company needs to test both clubs and golf balls… launch monitors, a mechanical golfer, a putting lab and an indoor/outdoor practice facility.
