Carry Bags - UK use

Lightweight vs. Lightweight and Waterproof?

Need to get a new carry bag and have narrowed it down to the following four available here in the UK;

Lightweight

New Mizuno Aerolite III
Ogio Vaporlite

Both around £70/Weight around 4lb's/Decent colour choice and 8.5" or 9.0" top

Lightweight and Waterproof

Titleist SX76 Sta Dry
Sun Mountain H2NO

Both around £130/Weight around 4lb's/Decent - if limited - colour choice and 9" or 9.5" top.

Not too worried about storage/pockets but do want it to be light/sturdy legs+opening system for those and a comfortable strap of course. Will be for carrying a full set and balls but that's about it.

Given the UK weather a Waterproof bag makes sense but if it is going to rain I'm likely to use my cart bag anyway, hence I guess the lightweight non waterproof bags (Ogio and Mizuno) might do the trick??

I've had two of them;

The Vaporlite is a great bag, but two big cons have left it in the garage, the club management system is not for me, I mean if you play lots of hybrids and fairways is great cause it sorts them out very well, but the poor irons are left with two holes which makes them tangle too much for my liking. And the leg mechanism doesn't open very wide, last year on a trip to Ireland while playing Portmarnock in windy conditions, the bag felt down something like 20 times....
The titleist sta dry is great, but as you said if it really does rain... you better not be on the course, a standard titleist would be as good as the stadry and cheaper... Both models, the lightweight and ultra lightweight, from this years catalogue are very nice.

I searched long and hard for a bag to replace my Vaporlite a few months ago.

When I first got the Vaporlite I thought it was great, but pretty soon got fed up with it.

Pro's
Nice design
Good club management
Nice colours

Cons
Legs not stable
Legs slow to retract
Legs droop when carrying

As you can see I found the legs to be a problem. They did not seem to spread very wide meaning the bag wasn't stable. I didnt think the foot mechanism was very well designed. I see a lot of US posters criticise the S.M and Titleist bags foot mech as it will not allow the bag to sit well on a cart or trolley. To me that isn't a problem, I never ride and have a trolley bag for when I use one. For me dont criticise a carry bag becoause it wont sit on a cart, buy a cart bag. The legs were slow to retract and several times triped me up as I picked up and sterted to walk. The Ogio website had a fix for this, but the legs were even less stable once applied.
Initially I found the Woode club management system great, but as I replaced my hybrids with irons it became a real pain.
Finally the durability became an issue. On of the rivets joining the top of the bag near the legs to the body failed after little over a year causing the bag to be pretty much useless.

I eventually bought the Titleist lightweight carry bag and couldn't be happier. Went for Black as I didn't like the other colours. Bag is rock solid, stable and legs dont droop and trip me up. Club management is great and I couldn't be happier. Paid £74.95 for it online.
