Callaway x-20 vs NG x-20 ??

Finally traded in my forged for something more forgiving since I don't have the time I used to for practice. I picked up a used set of x-20 with the bore through for 349, but the new NG x 20 are only 399 new. What is the differences . Thanks in advance ?

NG=New grooves...other than that I don't think there is much difference. Did you search google? First result was shop.callaway.com that mentions they are the new conforming grooves. I wouldn''t worry about them unless you are going to be playing on one of the tours.

From the info I can gather so far. The head is different being that the undercut channel is 180 not 360 degree. I'm still trying to find out if the uniflex shaft is the same. Anyone playing the version with the hosel ? kindly reply with your thoughts on them ?

I've located a set of "new old stock" X20 with the old grooves and tru-bore at a local shop for the same $399. Going to pick them up Monday.

Does the tru-bore make that much difference? The guy at the shop told me it costs more to produce, which is why the X20NG doesn't have it.

It looks like they are doing the same thing w/ the X20 that they did w/ the X18 when they released the X18r. It was a cheaper (to produce and sell) option than the current X22, and it looks like the X20NG will be similar.

I don't think that the Tru-bore will make much difference, maybe a bit less vibration dampening. It definitely costs more to produce (additional parts = additional assembly steps = more $). The cally site says that it still has S2H2 so take that for what it's worth.

If you already bought the X20's for less $, keep them and don't worry about the NG. You'll get more benefit out of the better grooves and all the rest of the tech vs. the stripped down NG.
