Difficulty choosing a driver shaft!

My swing speed goes back and forth between the high range of regular and the low range of stiff. Is there a good graphite driver shaft for this range? (88-93 is the range for me according to the launch monitor)....it's almost like I am too fast for regular, not fast enough for stiff......

That looks like a regular flex depending on the shaft. I swing at 93-98 and I am going with a firm fles or a soft stiff. Also if you hook a lot you may need a stiffer shaft. I would say regular is the way to go. My twin brother has a slower swing than me (90-95 on average) and he plays a regular flex. Basically you ss dictates a regular flex, but you also must consider tempo and swing plan. As always a professional fitter could fit you the best.

I did work with a professional fitter. I also found out i need a 12 degree driver since I was consistently launching my ball 2 degrees lower than the loft on my driver....He is pushing me towards an Accuflex Evolution LITE in regular. I am just wondering about any other shafts out there........

If your gear currently feels alittle too tight, especially towards the end of the round, you can do a few things to drop the flex.

 

As for your driver shaft, my go to combo that has worked exceedingly well for those in the lower 90's is Accra Tour 60 tipped to taste. You'd need to see your local Accra dealer or the immortal Joe K to have it done.

 

If your budget is tight, Penley Stealth 70 R flex plays fairly stout to flex and would work well untipped. It's an older shaft but still works fine. The T60 will feel livlier and launch higher.

 

These are just guesses...a real fitting would need a ton more info.

A proper fitting is the only real answer. Keep in mind one companies stiff shaft is the same as anothers regular shaft. There is just way too many variables to standardize in todays graphite shafts. Sometimes trial and error is the best way. If possible I would recommend the Callaway optifit cart as a starting point. It allows you to try multiple shafts in the exact same head that way you can not only feel the difference, but can see the results yourself.

Every one here are giving you a good answers and help.

 

Basically after calculating and testing the shaft that might be good for you, if the shaft is still on a weak side for you....then you can do some tipping to bring up the stiffness to fit your need, however who ever fit you need to understand and calculate also what will change on the charracter and spec after tipping.

 

Basically do a lot of homework first or discuss it w/ some one who knows what he is doing and his motivation is to make you a better golf club for your swing and then proceed w/ a tipping calculation if it a must.
