I completely thinned a wedge about 200 yards the other week....Seriously though, I would say that with the exception of 3 wedges and my putter, ALL clubs in my bag are capable of being hit 200 yards - just depends on the conditions.

Yeah, we can all (even weak little me) skull a shot a long way. But, besides the macho posturing going on between Mr. 200 Yard Driver and the 4H guy, I think the question concerned a well hit (not skulled shot) that one would normally play during a round. I wonder if women are as obsessed as we are with how far we hit a club as opposed to how well we hit it. I know I'm always trying to find ways to get more power. But, I'm not really sure why. I can hit my 7 wood or 5 wood pretty well from 200 yards. Is it important that I learn to hit my 5i that far?

Smooth 4 wood or 4 hybrid hit on the screws. In all honestly, 200 yds is the worst distance for me. Absolutely no accuracy.

5-hybrid which is 26*. I have had a couple of trackman sessions that have showed 198-201 carry and 204-206 total. I love that high flight and soft landing from 200 yards!

Your rediculous, I know many guys that can hit the ball further than many tour players, no, they can not hit it as far as Tiger or Sergio, because those guys are two of the longer hitters on tour, so saying that you know that they can't hit it that far just because you can is a tad bit rediculous.

5 or 4 iron, depending on wind conditions. If the wind is really blowing hard, I may even go with the 5 wood if situations permit. :black eye:

Normal to little wind 3-iron hybrid. Otherwise 2 iron/ 5 wood with wind strong in my face. To my back sometimes a 5 iron. All of this is assuming the hole is relatively flat.

from reading this thread, i really started to question my 200 yard club, with people being called on how far they say they can hit it. Now im not the longest player out there, but i out drive most people i play with, and out club them buy about 1 or 1.5. so the oher day went to a par 5, and dropped 3 balls beside the 200 yard mark, and assured the distance through a rangefinder (with slope), and it was 201, hit 6 iron to pin high 2/3 times and flew 5 iron over the green (not very deep). And a par 3 was 196, and i hit the back fringe and ran off with a 6, so atleast this thread has assured me of how far i can hit my 6 iron.

#2 Wind

#3 Hole

#4 How I feel that day

 

Assuming perfect conditions:

 

from a level fairway, zero wind and mid-to-big green.... A solid-smooth 5 Iron

 

For others situations it could be anything from a 7i to a 3 wood to lay down

Yea suppose it has. Well for the people who want to know i think i posted i hit a 3 wood but lol that was a while back hit that a bit further now thank goodness. Now it is also a 3 iron/rescue for me with no wind etc although with run it is a bit more

Im so much of a feel player that it depends on the day. I might be feeling 7iron or I might be feeling 3 wood. but on most days I would reach for the 5i or choke down on a 4i

hey tommy why do u always post ure age? do u think ure gonna get scouted by what u say in a forum? i know a kid that i played against when we were 13 and he was a stud and now that we are 16 the kid never goes low, he was just big for his age and hit it a mile but now the tables have turned. dont put pressure on yourself already and get a big head cuz i have seen tables turn within 3 years

He's just making sure people know why he's hitting a 5w from 200 yards. Most people are saying they hit much less club. I'm not saying it matters what you hit from 200 but maybe he's ashamed a little so he's justifying it with his age.

I hit up on it just a tad. i some times get flippy so im not hitting down alot of the time. ill catch it thin or lift it. its a low ballflight that will crawl up a hill or run for ever. when i lift it it will land 160 and roll 40+ yards. this is on a really shaggy driving range tho...

Then again, I play for the Air Force Academy and we practice at 7500 feet so there are guys that hit 8 irons 200.

 

Tip: To gain extra distance with all clubs, move to Colorado.

you havnt watched me hit shots on the range. have you never hit up on the ball? you try to help thhe ball into the air and it does the opposite? it goes but it goes a ways and goes straight down. it then bounces and continues rolling and bounces some more and rolls more.. topspin... i hit up on my 1 iron. it flies 130 or less and then the top spin rolls and bounces it way another 70. Why cant you accept that i have found an accident that works and leave it be?
