Anyone belong to the Virginia State Golf Association

I stumbled across an interview from the associations monthly magazine the Virginia Golfer (here it is) with the CEO of Billy Casper Golf. Anyway being a new VA resident (Northern VA) I was intrigued about the association and possibly joining. So I thought I would first throw it out to any VA golfwrx members to get some input. Any thoughts on the assoc would be much appreciated.

I have been in years gone by, by way of membership in my local club. I recall receiving the magazine, and also being able to enter one day tournaments that the VSGA runs. The cost for the tournaments was reasonable, and they were played at some good courses.

Most VSGA members are members due to club affiliation. There are a few neat features but mostly you get a sticker, monthly magazine, and handicap service.

The one day program is a blast. Handicap Flighted and you can play some amazing courses that you won't have access to unless you know a ton of people.

Also, the VIP Card is a great value. Most of the courses in VA particpate and you can play for cart fees. Several have restrictions as far as date and time but if you have a flexible schedule it is worth the $150 in my opinion.

If I could play more during the week I would definitely have a VIP card. It looks like it's a great deal.
