my new gamer

Well what can I say, after seeing all the nice scottys around here I had to have one. I hope you all can give me some advice, like is $450 to much for this putter? Ive seen them selling for over 900, so I thought I got a good deal, in addition, my friend, a scotty collector, said in 10 yrs this putter should be $2000+. Furthermore, only 2003 were ever made and only 2003 black prototype headcovers were made for this putter. I know there are some cameron connoisseurs out there, so please advise. pics below -

Nice putter. I loved that black pearl model. You got it for a pretty good price. That's about the going rate now. It's been steadily rising for the past year. I don't know about hitting $2000 in ten years but all us Scotty collectors can only hope. :yahoo:

A friend of mine has that putter as well, it's what made me buy my 1.5 Beach :crazy: It's a very nice putter!

I had that putter a few years back and sold it for $325, so it's nice to see it went up in value.

Very nice, just a little light in the the headweight, unfortunately, but a beautiful finish, that's for sure! I love the Sante Fe neck style.

Nice putter...one of my favorites since I am a Santa Fe, 1.5/2.5 kinda guy. It won't hit 2k for many reasons one being that it is a limited production OTR. You will, however, get many years of play, send it in to the custom shop for restoration, and get back all, if not, make a few bucks on it years down the road...definately not 2k though.

I understand what you are saying the putter is an OTR since it was sold over the rack to the public, but most every site does not list it that way - It is listed as a rare limited putter. I have seen this putter from 589 to 950 - 589 at theartofputter.com and 950 at tablerock.com. I do believe this putter will hit the 1000-1500 mark in less than 10yrs and I really dont know anything about scottys. Only that i have been trying to buy one for about six months and the prices are thru the roof. Ive seen used studios go for 250, if a used studio 1, 1.5, 2, or 2.5 is worth 250 to someone - then this putter is worth 2gs. Just my opinion.

Well, the reason why you saw the putter for 950 is becaues you saw it on Table Rock! Ebay dictates prices on anything Scotty. Believe me on that. Regardless of price, you have a gem. I do hope for your sake that it reaches a price of $2k. However, I don't look at the 2003 run putters to be anything special. It'll surely retain its value, and even go up a couple bucks. Case in point, the 98 Xperimentals sold for 2k back in 99-2000...now they dropped down to 400. Inspired by (insert name) peaked at 8-900...now you can find them for 4-500. JATs for 4-500.

It is tough to forecast these types of putters. You have to have something really unique for it to appreciate in the fashion you are thinking. Something like a Newport 2 Centershaft, may reach the 2k mark only because there is no production retail version to compare it to like the 1.5 black pearl, or the newport beach proto, etc.

Anyway, don't let price get in the way of the game. If you want it as a collectors, keep all the labels in tact, and don't touch a ball with it. If you want it as a gamer, don't worry about scratching, dinging, or anything else with the putter because IT WILL AFFECT YOUR GAME! No other game is as mental as golf. Lastly, I'd advise you to pull the shaft, and find another fluted Santa Fe shaft if you want to game it. The black pearl shaft, and black/yellow winn are hard to come by. Especially the shaft. If you did send it in for a resto years later, they'll stick a plain shaft in it, and if they run out of those winn grips, you are stuck with whatever else they have.
