Hi all. I am looking into buying a studio select and am trying to decide between the 2 and the 2.5. My current putter has the same plumbers neck as the 2 but I might want a switch. Besides the look, can anyone tell me how the 2 and 2.5 play differently? The Scotty website says the 2.5 is for players "who prefer a bit more toe flow." What does that mean?

As I understand it the 2.5 has more "toe-hang" than the 2. Therefore, with identical strokes the 2.5 doesn't close the toe quite as quickly as the toe moves along a larger arc.

So the 2 promotes a more gated stroke?

I'm not sure what a gated stroke is, but the more straight-back-straight-through your stroke is the more likely you will want a face balanced putter. If your putting stroke is more of an inside-square-inside then you will most likely want a putter with more toe-hang. The Newport 2.5 would have more toe-hang than the Newport 2. Scotty Cameron doesn't make a face balanced putter as he believes that the putting stroke should follow an arc. However, his Newport Longnecks and the new Squareback are very close to face balanced.
