EPON Drivers

Recommended Posts

I just visited Novogolf in Old Tappa, NJ.

They were selling EPON clubs, and I was impressed with EPON clubs' quality feel, but $1200.00+ for a driver plus $100.00 fitting fee???

Please let me know what your thoughts are since I do want to plunk down $1300.00+ for a golf driver like a mad man, but that wouldn't fly well with the Boss, you know?

Has anyone tried EPON drivers???

Are they really that good?

Not that more expensive clubs get you more accuracy or distance, but their qualities felt much better than the ones I've tried so far.

I need good a good reasoning, so the Boss will allow me to spend crazy amount of money on something Nobody needs.

Thank you!!!

I have owned 6 Epon drivers of various vintages over the past 4 years and so far I am still keeping/playing two of them. FYI, I have never paid that much for them since there are many nice used ones around that can be had for $500 to $600 if you know where to look. Most of them are very good (except the EMB) but it would be the combination of the head and shaft. FYI, the best in my opinion is the older ZR460 (over the af101 which I sold for $600 with a XCON 5) I still have and the newer EMS.

I have an AF-102, prior to this I played mostly Tourstage X-Drive (405, 701, 450) but also an ADAMS Speedline Classic Tour.

The Epon has the most amazing feel, touted as the nearest to Persimmon feeling you can get with TI. It also has a Crazy LOngest Yard Shaft, which is a pretty spendy combo.

Is it worth it? hmmm, only you can answer that. I will say that it really does feel solid when hit properly, goes as far and maybe further than anything else I've played to date. The build quality and finish is second to none + you can get it made to your specs which helps eliminate some of the variables.

Downsides are that it's not very forgiving from a feel perspective..... if you're not on it, you'll feel it,although distance reduction is no worse than others

Put it this way, I hit several drives today that I can't stop thinking about. :D

I have a AF-102 and I have to say its pretty awsome. I paid a lot for the driver but I have a speeder v2 limited shaft in it, and the shaft was almost $600. What I have noticed, is every so often I loose it to the right for what ever reason, and I do not pick up the side spin that you would on like a Adams Speedling Classic Tour. My adams was really bad in this regard. The epon is about the best head you can purchase right now. I would give this driver a time out, but I will never sell it, and thats fo sho

Excellent driver, but better purchased at less than half that price. I've owned two Epon drivers, which I enjoyed playing. However, I think their irons set the brand apart significantly more than their woods do.

The best driver you will ever play if you can afford it. I play a 102 with whiteboard and absolutely crush it. It's been pured tipped accordingly with a face angle of 1 degree open and headweight at 203 grams. It's a monster!

I personally would not try to skimp and go used if you were fit and found the one you hit so well. I learned this the hard way. The quality and tolerances of these drivers are without a doubt the best (thus the price)

They are also built to spec so make sure you know what you are doing before you look for a used club for 700.00 or so and take a chance of throwing your money away. I would certainly get fit and find out exactly what you need. Once you do that you will not regret spending the $ on a new one built for you.

Fwiw... I was fit at Novogolf and those guys know exactly what they are doing and do it very well. There's no one in the tri-state that can touch these guys. My sticks are like magic!!!

gaming the 102, i love the feel and its very very long. game the 10.5 but also have the 8.5 for kicks. both are shafted with oban devotion but will pull the one out in favor for the new oban kiyoshi. really curious on the combo. also have the 151 which i started gaming again after a year. cannot go wrong, if you can afford it go for it.

I have a 102 ordered in 10.5 loft with a Mitsubishi 70 Ilima shaft, hopefully I'll get it next week. This will be my most expensive single club ever purchased but if I like it as much as their irons I will be a happy camper
