Considering a Sun Mountain C-130

Recommended Posts

Hey Golfwrxers -

Just joined this forum. Looks like there are a lot of knowledgable people here. Hello.

I am considering upgrading my embarrassing cart bag to a Sun Mountain C-130. They seem to come highly recommended. Any issues with it people don't like? I can't find a store near me that has them and I can't even find any good pictures of it. I am curious about how the back looks, if it's too bulky, etc. My buddy has the older model. Is it true that this one is slightly streamlined? That could be a good thing.

Anyway, if anyone has any opinions on it I'd appreciate them.

Most of the online stores have pictures of both the older and the 2011 model of the C-130. The newer bag is indeed greatly streamlined and, in my opinion, much more attractive. It also doesn't seem to have sacrificed much storage space due to the downsizing as it looks like you could put your entire wardrobe and a couple cases of beer in there with room left over for golf balls. The only thing holding me back from purchasing one is I would also like to see the new C-135 before deciding. The 130 is readily available in stores in my area but I have only seen pictures of the 135 so far. Both appear to be outstanding cart bags though.

I have the c130 which is now two years old and still loving it.

The only issue I hear about sometimes, and I have this also, is that on some electric carts, the bottom of the bag won't fit into the well, because the bottom of the bag (plastic molded part) is too big in diameter. However, when this happens, I just make sure the bag is properly secured with the strap going through the built in loop in the bag front, and I have never had an issue with anything coming loose from the cart.

Nothing on my bag has yet broken or come loose or tore, nothing. And the insulated drink compartment is great in the summer.

I looked at the C130 a couple of months ago, when I was shopping for a cart bag. Nice, solid bag, but a little bulky. I ended up with a Callaway Org.14 Sport bag, because I liked the exterior putter well, and the red/white/black color scheme better. If you're looking for pictures, check the Golfsmith website.

c130 is the best bag I've ever had. Durable, holds everything, well organized pocket layout. You can find 2010 models for about $150 online.

I have had the C-130 bag for over a year & have played about 60 rounds with it. I use mid sized grips & have had no problems with club removal. The bag is very well made & had had no issues with zippers/trim etc. There is so much storage you can overload it! After a rainy day, I found 8 towels stuffed in the large pockets! I use it on both riding carts & push cart & have had no problems with either. The over sized base is no problem on some riding carts as the "through the loop" strap secures it nicely. I like a "No Logo" bag & the black on black works great for me. IMO-Overall, a very worthy choice.

Hey everyone -

Thanks for the responses. I have gone and ordered a new 2011 Sun Mountain C-130 in all black! I'm pretty excited about it too. I liked the earlier model, but the idea of this one being just slightly more streamlined makes it super appealing to me. Thanks for all the comments!

Good choice :) I just went through this process. I was torn between the Bag Boy Revolver Pro and the 2011 C-130. Ended up getting the 130. Could not be happier. Great bag.

Funny, but I was in Golf Galaxy last night and was looking at one of these. I currently use a Sun Mountain 3.5, but really never carry any more due to a balky (and old) back. I play twice a week and use a push cart for one round, and ride the other. It looks like a really great cart bag and isn't too heavy. When I load up the 3.5 with rain gear, wind shirts, etc. it feels like it's going to burst. I think I'm going to pick up the C-130.
