Do you use?

Not irons but woods.Who plays with no headcovers? I'm thinking about it.Thinking like Rocco.Can be a pain sometimes.

The old clubs with the tumble finish could live without the covers but these new clubs with the paint finish won't last long without developing chips and dings. Regardless, old or new, headcovers help minimize the noise of the clubs banging against each other when you walk or even ride through the fairways.

I did this for a little bit, then I ran into a cart with a bad bag strap, bag fell off at speed, scratched up a driver, FW, and putter. Never again.

Ah, yep... I think we had the same cart... As luck would have it, mine fell off while we drove over the ONLY cement bridge on the course... And someone else was driving so I felt completely helpless.

Cover them. So many horror stories about bags falling off of carts and being stolen when you go into the clubhouse to grab a hot dog at the turn. I am a big believer in hiding what your clubs are with different covers though. On my driver, I have a Gator and a Walrus on the 4 wood which doesn't readily identify that I have 2 TP clubs that are worth a bit more money. Also have an older Rossa cover on my Kia Ma to hide the value as well. It adds character to my bag, protects my investments and leaves thieves guessing...

My clubs are tools for projecting a golf ball on a somewhat predictable trajectory to a target. Much like a hammer being a tool to whack a nail into a piece of wood. I would expect that a good hammer would show signs of use and even wear. My clubs show signs of use and wear. I am proud of those signs, even when some might snicker at a sky mark or frown at dings and scratches.

To me, headcovers are a needless distraction. A pain in the botox, actually. My clubs are happy to have that well used patina. I am not on TV and I have no sponsors eager to let viewers see the latest greatest shiniest clubs. And I know I don't have the latest greatest anyway, so I have no need to pretend they are by maintaining their mirror finish.

All that having been said, I do have a Duddley Do-Right driver headcover that I bring out on special occasions. And one time with old Duddley, I actually got paired up with a guy who had Natasha and Boris head covers. Now that was a SPECIAL occasion.

I use the head covers that come with my clubs, for example: my driver and putter. But the head cover I have for my hybrid, I bought separate but it's one that goes with it.
