47/52/57 or 46/50/54/58 wedge set up?

currently use Ping i3+. PW/Gap/SW lofts are 47/52/57. Any benefits to bending the pw to 46, the gap to 50 and adding a 54 and 58? PW distance is 120, gap is anywhere from 80-110, and sw maxes at 75-80.

If your bag got space for another club, another wedge is always welcome.

However you might need more time to figure out which wedges (4 vs. 3) to use for those non-full swing range.

I'm currently using a 50, 54, 58 setup with my PW being 46(695CB). I find it works well because there are no gaps. I pulled out my 3 and 4 iron and carry driver, 3-wood, and two hybrids to get the right number of clubs.

i vary my wedge setups with the following:

47*, 52*, 58* - nike pro combo pw and vokey oil can wedges

47*, 53*, 58* - nike pro combo pw and nike forged wedges

47*, 53*, 60* - nike pro combo pw and nike forged wedges

47*, 54*, 60* - nike pro combo pw and vokey oil can wedges

 

i select the different setups on course conditions and also how my wedge game is going. if my wedge game is stuggling then i switch from the vokey to the nike or vice versa.

I use a 46/50/56/60. All the gaps are fine, but then I like making 3/4 and 1/2 swings based on how I want the ball to fly.

My PW is bent to 46 and I find the 46-54-58 and yes now 62 is the right choice for me.

 

I am not a GAP wedge fan (50), as too many guys try to bring everything into the green at full tilt. I prefer to work my PW.

 

Charting full wedge swings with lob and sand wedges is tough to really do right and marks a playing error if you bring those wedges into a green full tilt.

 

I don't do it but a friend of mine who is an outstanding player knows if he chokes his PW down to a certain spot he gets that GAP distance.

52/53's make certain bunker shots very tough, most playere really need the 54 or 56 in there somewhere.

I have 2 set-ups that I rotate

1. 46* PW, 52* GW and 58* SW/LW - this is when I need an extra wood or hybrid

OR

2. 46* PW, 50* GW, 54* SW, 58* LW - this when I need an extra wedge.

Am I the only person still playing a 48* PW? :help: I find that the best set up for me is 53* and 59*.

You might be the only one beacuse of the way OEM's are making clubs now. Only MB's have 48º PW now (mostly).
