Hybrid vs Iron

I'm thinking of dropping my 4I for a hybrid and wanted some advice. A Hybrid vs an iron of the same loft say 23* how much more distance would I expect ? Obvioulsy the hybrid is 3/4 to an inch and 1/4 longer so it would increase the ss a bit plus the hybrid would carry longer. Anyone who has experience with this please reply. Thanks

Unfortunately I think you have to try and demo some hybrids to see how they would fit in your yardage gaps. In general the wood shaped hybrids with graphite shafts do carry farther than similar lofted irons so if you make a blind purchase you might end up with a larger yardage gap than you'd prefer. As an alternative you could do what I did and try an iron shaped hybrid like my Mizuno Fli-Hi II's. The advantage of the Fli-Hi II's is that they're loft and lie adjustable so you could get one with the same loft, shaft length and shaft as the iron you're replacing and have a club that travels a similar distance but is much more forgiving and easy to elevate as well as being better out of bad lies. Other hybrids that I've tried and really liked are the Cleveland Halo and Mizuno Fli-Hi CLK, with graphite shafts both of those sticks carried at least 10 yards further for me than similar lofted irons.
